I attended this clinic for a routine STI screening. Upon arrival, I was informed that LGBT patients are prioritised over heterosexual patients, meaning people who arrived after me would be seen before me. I fully support respectful healthcare for everyone, including the LGBT community. However, I also believe that access to healthcare should be based on medical need and that every patient deserves equal respect regardless of their sexual orientation. I left feeling that my sexual orientation determined my place in the queue rather than my arrival time or medical circumstances. If you are seeking routine STI testing and expect a first-come, first-served service, it may be worth considering other clinics.
Unfortunately, I have nothing good to report about Checkpoint Basel. I called the previous Tuesday for advice. I was told it would be open on Thursday, March 28th. I drove 1.5 hours to Basel and found it closed. There was no mention of it on the website, the phone just had the usual answering machine, and I didn't find anything on Google either. You can't really be sure more than calling and checking the website, and yet it was still closed!
