About this place Club/Sauna Sunnyday

Sunnyday is Basel's only dedicated gay sauna and the last permanent exclusively-gay venue in the city. Tucked into Grenzacherstrasse on the Kleinbasel side, near Wettsteinplatz and the Messe, it pairs a full wellness area — Finnish and bio saunas, a steam room/hammam, a jacuzzi and relaxation lounges — with an extensive cruising side that includes a maze of private cabins, a sling room, a mirror room and video cabins, plus an on-site bar and a small gay shop. Entry is around CHF 34, with reduced rates for younger guests. It draws a mixed international men's crowd from the tri-border region (Switzerland, Germany and France) and is busiest on Friday and Saturday evenings, when it stays open late. With Basel's traditional gay bar having closed, Sunnyday functions as the community's main permanent meeting point for gay and bisexual men.

I was there today, May 31, 2026. From the moment I walked in, the receptionist was incredibly helpful and friendly. The facilities are clean, and both the steam and dry saunas are excellent. There's a great atmosphere. I made several friends. You can order drinks at the bar, and they're delicious. The bartender was super attentive and kind. I would definitely visit again when I return. Thank you, I had a fantastic time!

For me, the best sauna in Switzerland. Friendly staff. Fair price. Entry is only 36 francs and includes one free coffee or tea. Good mix of ages. I highly recommend this sauna. I always enjoy coming here. I'm happy to make the over one-hour drive.
