Basel Pride 2026
About This Event
Basel Pride happens every June. It's the LGBTQ+ pride celebration for Switzerland's art capital, timed to line up with Art Basel. Locals come, sure, but so do international visitors, creating a pretty specific cultural program: art, then Pride.
The parade cuts through the city center, crossing from Grossbasel to Kleinbasel. It's meant to connect the city's two halves.
Because Germany and France are so close, Basel Pride gets a tri-national crowd. People from Freiburg, Mulhouse, Strasbourg, and the Upper Rhine region show up next to the Swiss. Since the 2021 marriage equality referendum, it's gotten bigger. It's the German-speaking Swiss alternative to Zurich Pride, for anyone who likes Basel's smaller scale better.
