About this place The Waterloo

The Waterloo Bar on Argyle Street is widely regarded as Scotland's oldest gay bar and has been trading since the early 1970s. It is a traditional pub with a loyal, mostly older regular crowd, plus newcomers, and runs long-standing karaoke, bingo and cabaret nights. It is in the city centre a short walk from Central Station, and it is one of the few step-free, wheelchair-accessible gay bars in Glasgow. Expect a sociable local pub rather than a late club; for dancing, the Merchant City venues are about ten minutes' walk east.

A bar that's lost its way. Oldest gay bar in Glasgow now only claims to be gay friendly. Used to a safe space for the lgbt+ community now a straight bar where you get a load of stares if you're gay. Not a comfortable place to be any more. Went often whenever is Glasgow, atmosphere is poor now. Much better lgbt bars elsewhere in the city

The Waterloo is a great pub. The drinks are reasonably priced with special offers always available. The live music is fantastic especially if like Rod Stewart or the 80's. The staff are fantastic without exception. It is a safe bar that is welcoming.
