Glasgow's Pride

Glasgow's Pride is Scotland's largest pride march. It's run by Glasgow's Pride through G Pride SCIO, a Scottish charity (SC053884) that depends on volunteers. Glasgow pride has had a messy recent history. The previous organizer, the Pride Glasgow charity, got into trouble after its 2018 event, when tickets were oversold and Glasgow City Council said it was owed £41,858.90. In 2019 a rival free event called Mardi Gla set up in competition. The current organizers took a political line of their own: in 2025 they barred political parties from marching, holding stalls or speaking. They cited the UK Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of sex.

The march is free. The route changes from year to year. In 2025 it went from Kelvingrove to the Barrowlands, and in 2026 it started at Glasgow Green, followed the Clyde into the centre and returned to the Green. Afterwards there's a festival with live acts. The Merchant City bars carry on into the night.

The 2026 march on Saturday, July 18, marked 30 years since the first Glasgow pride march in June 1996. Liberty X and Ultrabeat headlined, and former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon marched with the TIE (Time for Inclusive Education) campaign. Reports spoke of tens of thousands on the streets but gave no count, so we've removed the 40,000 figure. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked. The march is usually held on a Saturday in mid-July.
