About this place The Mandolay Hotel

The Mandolay is an independent hotel on London Road, a short walk from Guildford's town centre and railway station. It is a mainstream hotel with a restaurant, a bar and conference and event space, and a lot of its trade comes from business and wedding guests. It is listed as gay-friendly, not as a gay hotel. Google reviewers rate it 4.3 from about 1,600 reviews. Guildford is about 35 minutes from London Waterloo by train, so it also works as a quieter base for trips into the city.

We spent an afternoon in the lobby/ bar area discussing business and it was an absolute pleasure. Great service especially from Nuno and the best Eaton mess we have ever tasted!! We will be back

We stayed in an executive room in the Coach House on a Saturday/Sunday one nights stay in September. The room was modern, very clean and the 5ft bed was very comfortable. They give you tea and coffee making facilities plus water in the minibar too! The room we had had good working air con. The self service breakfast was good and the restaurant was modern, clean with attentive staff. We booked breakfast when we checked in and offered a special price of £15 rather than £18! You don’t have to park in their car park, you can park locally for free if you are prepared to walk for 5 minutes! It can save you £20 in parking costs. Highly recommend, great value for money and a lovely place to stay and ideally situated with in 5 - 8 minutes walk you are heading into the high street of Guildford.

We just stayed for the first time at the Mandolay. We were flying through Guildford for a friend’s birthday celebration. We arrived by train at Guildford London Road station…super convenient and less than an easy 5 min walk to the hotel. Sunita greeted us and was wonderfully helpful finding us a perfect ground floor room. We were road raw and tired and she very kindly showed us to our room and helped us with our bags - thank you Sunita! Although we did not eat in The Grill, we did have a refreshing fun and tonic. All in all a super experience -Thank you. P.S. love the in room Nespresso coffee maker!

Regularly stay here on my visits to Guildford because the welcome is warm and the rooms are immaculately clean. Unlike big chain hotels they redecorate/redesign the rooms, they’ve even built more and yet as a customer one isn’t disturbed whilst it takes place. The Milton Brown toiletries are high quality and although attached to the bathroom wall are in the best positions- everything well thought through- biscuits, sweets, tea and coffee makers in room too.

Sampled the Pre Theatre menu and was not disappointed. Nuno and the team were all welcoming and friendly and the food was well cooked, well presented and tasty.

Arriving at 7pm after a very long day, Anu’s welcome at reception couldn’t have been warmer. A lovely upgrade to an executive room was much appreciated. I’ll definitely be returning to the Mandolay in the future.
