About this place Aylestone Meadows

Aylestone Meadows is a large stretch of nature reserve, canal and river towpath and playing fields south of Leicester city centre, off Aylestone Road. Gay listings have long mentioned its quieter car park and wooded paths as an outdoor cruising spot, mostly from late afternoon into the evening. It is a busy public park used by dog-walkers, cyclists and families. Same-sex relationships are legal in the UK, but sex in public is not. Stay discreet, keep to places you can leave easily, avoid isolated spots after dark, and tell someone where you are going.

We are frequent visitors to the Meadows and have been over many years. Walking through the different seasons gives very different views of both the wildlife and flora. Winter can be a challenge, walking boots needed in some parts. Summer offers plenty of shade on a hot day. Yesterday we set off in search of the elusive Kingfisher, unsuccessful as it happened but we still saw a variety of wildlife, Emperor Dragonflies, Damselflies and numerous types of butterflies. Birdlife included Swans, Moorhen families, Mallards and Coots. I even spotted a Goldcrest foraging amongst the leaf litter, a rare sighting for me!
