The Vauxhall Griffin, open since 2007, is a proper neighborhood pub in Vauxhall that doesn't put on airs. You can get a good drink and a solid meal here, no problem.
They care about what they pour: lagers, wines, and ales, with cask options that consistently get Cask Marque accreditation. In the kitchen, everything's made there, from the bread to the pies and main courses, using local ingredients when possible.
Vauxhall's a long-standing LGBTQ+ area in South London, with plenty of bars and clubs, and this pub just feels like it belongs. It's independent, so it keeps a friendly, down-to-earth feel where regulars and new faces mix easily. It works for a quick drink, a full dinner, or just hanging out.
If you're around on a Tuesday, they do a quiz night. It runs in 15-week seasons and can be a good way to meet some locals. For hours and specifics, their website is thevauxhallgriffin.com. This place skips the flash for good service and realness—a sound pick if you want a true London pub experience.

Mark made us feel welcome immediately on our arrival with complementary drinks, the room was well sized, very clean, a good sized bathroom and comfy bed. The food was tasty with good sized portions and plenty of choice. All the staff were helpful and and friendly. We absolutely recommend The Griffin Belle and look forward to returning there ourselves in the future.
I stayed for only one night, thankfully, and it was a horrible experience from start to finish. The WiFi was terrible and completely unusable, which meant I couldn’t get the work I needed done. I was simply told that the WiFi was down, with no explanation of what was being done to fix it or whether it would even be resolved. The shower was equally awful — the water barely trickled out and was only lukewarm. It was obvious the dials had been adjusted to severely restrict both the water pressure and temperature. To make matters worse, the power went out in my room. I had to go down to reception, which is located in the pub downstairs, to get assistance. The staff member on duty couldn’t even figure out where the socket or switch was initially, so the issue took far longer to resolve than it should have. The room itself was tiny, and the soundproofing was practically nonexistent. I could hear the guests next door as though they were in my room. Between the constant noise and the bright neon light directly outside my window — with curtains that did very little to block it out — I barely slept. Overall, this was an extremely poor stay and not somewhere I would ever choose to stay again. I will be recommending that my company remove this hotel from its approved booking list.
