Excellent cinema which shows films as they were intended to be seen. The program is packed with a great selection of films spanning a large period of time and from all over the world. For anyone trying to get into films, this place has the ones you should see!

Saw Your Name on Monday 17th August. The place might have it's charm for some but it was an awful experience by my standards. It's far too hot inside and was like an oven. The screen itself was really skewed. Normally you could ignore it but the subtitles were level and the bottom of the screen was at an angle. With the sound system being quiet in cinema terms it's annoying when the ring piece just in front of you to the left won't shut the hell up throughout the entire film. Lots of people checking phones constantly too. The staff member checking tickets was strange too. I presented her the QR code on the screen and she told me to point it at her... That's literally what I was doing.

I really like the idea of the Prince Charles cinema, and their unusual selection of showings. However, I feel there is some room for improvement. Firstly, the seating is bizarre. The seats towards the front seem higher than those at the back. As some means of compensation the screen is made smaller and is positioned higher. We still had some difficulty viewing the movie. We were watching a movie with subtitles. Due to the lack of contrast this was extremely difficult to view on a movie with a lot of white and bright colours. I would like to think that there would be some way to increase the contrast of the subtitles on their setup, but maybe I am asking for too much. The popcorn was honestly a little stale. This at least is easily to rectify. Again, I support this cinema's mission and would like it to survive, but it worries me that the seating and viewing conditions would require a lot of time and money to fix. However, it's fundamental to the viewing experience if you want me to watch at your cinema instead of my home setup.
