Workshop: Everyday Objects as Archives (Mandarin & Cantonese)
For the mainland Chinese LGBTQIA+ diaspora, our histories and lived experiences are often embedded in seemingly ordinary objects, such as a second-hand rice cooker passed on by a friend, anti-theft travel essentials for trips around Europe, or a thick stack of visa application paperwork.
In this workshop, we invite you to bring along an object that holds a memory, a story, ora fragment of your life. We’ll write object labels and explore how these personal belongings can become part of a community archive of our own, preserving traces of everyday life that might otherwise be lost or left behind amid the uncertainty of temporary immigration status and insecure housing.
If you wish, you can also leave your object with us to be displayed in the exhibition.
This workshop is exclusively for East Asian LGBTQIA+ people.
