via Stay22About this place REM Bar
REM Bar, inside the Rembrandt Hotel, is a modern update to one of Manchester's oldest gay venues.
You’ll find it on the corner of Canal and Sackville Streets, right in the middle of Manchester's gay village. That makes it easy to step out and hit other spots nearby.
The place itself is all contemporary: electric blue lights, dark, and a bit cruisy, which makes for a close-quarters feel. It’s a draw for bears and men in leather, but anyone's welcome. The staff are friendly enough. Music leans retro, good for a nostalgic vibe.
They do theme nights and special events too, so it’s worth checking their schedule if you're looking for something specific. Otherwise, it’s a solid spot for a drink, a chat, and a taste of Manchester’s LGBTQ+ history.

Great gay bar , me and my partner had a really good night 👍
The best bar in the village by far. Great atmosphere, great staff, great choice of drinks, great entertainment. Definitely my first choice for a drink and a good time.
Great bar, great atmosphere! Owner a bit strict tho, I’m not sure he’s that keen on women, I once got shushed for laughing … in a bar… on a Saturday!! 🤣
Literally the rudest bar staff in the village. Ridiculous attitude problem if they don't know your face. Don't bother, I walked back out after getting sass from the barman from the second I walked in.
I’d give them zero stars if possible, the sexism is unreal
