About this place The Church

The Church is a pub at 37 Chorlton Street, on the edge of Manchester's Gay Village near the coach station and a short walk from Canal Street. It draws a mixed crowd that includes plenty of LGBTQ+ locals, and reviewers mention karaoke and DJ nights. Pub food, especially fish and chips, gets frequent praise. Reviewers also highlight a heated outdoor area with heaters at each table, which is useful in Manchester weather. Google ratings are middling, at 3.7 from about 180 reviews. There's no phone or website on file here, so check what's on before you make a special trip. For the main Village bars, walk two minutes to Canal Street.

Ignore the reviews of the lost straight people. Church is a mcr gay village staple. Reasonably priced drinks, gets busy but never too busy. Lovely staff and some of the cleaner loos on the street. Strongly recommend coming over for drag bingo on a Thursday. A lot of really nice people go here.

Overall fun. But a girl bartender long reddish hair was so miserable!! If you don’t want to deal with the public she is in the wrong job!

The bouncer said my shorts were too "sporty" so I couldn't go in. They weren't actually sports shorts but he rubbed them and said they felt like sports material. Hilarious!

A fun place. Cool gardens. You can enjoy a beer in a quiet atmosphere by the canal lock.
