About this place The Assheton Arms hotel

The Assheton Arms is a gay-friendly hotel located in Middleton, just outside Manchester city centre. As a dedicated LGBTQ+ venue, it provides a welcoming space for queer travellers visiting the Greater Manchester area. The hotel offers accommodation along with on-site hospitality facilities, making it a convenient base for exploring the region. Middleton sits within easy reach of Manchester's vibrant LGBTQ+ scene, one of the UK's most established and diverse gay communities. While this particular venue serves as a quieter, more intimate option compared to the bigger city-centre bars and clubs, it's ideal if you're looking for a relaxed, LGBTQ+-affirming place to stay. The hotel provides the practical amenities you'd expect from a traditional inn, with the reassurance of being in a space that actively welcomes LGBTQ+ guests. Whether you're visiting for a weekend getaway or passing through on business, this is a straightforward accommodation option with local character. You can easily venture into Manchester city centre for nightlife and attractions, or enjoy a quieter time locally. Check their website for current details on facilities, room types, and any hospitality services they offer on-site.

Very disappointing experience. This is by far the worst place I have ever booked. The room was extremely dirty and had a very unpleasant smell. What upset me the most was that there was no private bathroom or shower, and this was not made clear before booking. Paying £50 for a room in this condition was extremely disappointing. I felt misled and very unhappy with my stay. Honestly, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Before booking, I strongly suggest looking at other alternatives and carefully checking all the details and facilities provided. Unfortunately, my experience here was very poor, and I would not stay again.

Was supposed to be staying at the Weston hotel, an hour before check in we were asked to go to another hotel 25 miles away from the original hotel even though we was already on the train to that hotel, we arrived at the new hotel and was met with a foul smell of bad body odour. We checked in for 3 rooms. We went into the first room and it was filthy (picture proof) literally filthy and disgusting. The second room we were met with a man sleeping in the bed, who was a friend of the staff, the third room was locked from the inside so there was clearly someone in there too, we went downstairs and complained which we were then laughed at by the staff, we then had to pay another £500 for a last minute hotel for the night, and pay the travel to get to there aswell. I contacted the booking agency for a refund and the owner refused it even though he told me to get a full refund. I then called the owner and he proceeded to be rude down the phone to me and continuously put the phone down on me laughing. Totally unprofessional. And then when I messaged with proof they declined my refund they told me to calm down? Absolute joke of a hotel and buisness. Hotels are filthy and the staff are even worse.

I wouldn't even give it a one star. This place was filthy, absolutely disgusting rooms. Bars on the windowd, shared bathroom dirty, black dist all over window sills around skirting boards. Will be posting videos to trip advisor. Needs shutting down ASAP.
