About This Event

Newcastle Pride 2026 takes place in July. It’s a big deal on the UK’s LGBTQ+ calendar, a celebration of queer identity in Newcastle upon Tyne. This isn't some new thing. It grew out of smaller protests and community meetups in the North East, pushing for LGBTQ+ rights. Over the last twenty years, it’s just gotten bigger. The point is still the same: bring people together, give a voice to advocacy, and throw a party for LGBTQ+ people, their friends, and the wider community. It pulls in crowds from all over North East England, making it a major regional event.

Expect a parade and a festival site. The parade kicks things off, pushing through Newcastle city center. You’ll see community groups, local businesses, and charities, all marching with banners, costumes, and music. It draws a serious crowd. After the parade, everyone heads to the Town Moor, a big green space right outside the city center. This is where the festival sets up, with multiple stages. You’ll find local acts, newer artists, and often bigger names – pop, dance, cabaret, drag. Beyond the stages, there’s usually a community village, where LGBTQ+ organizations offer resources. There’s a family zone for kids, and plenty of food and drink stalls. Official after-parties and club nights get announced closer to the date, but Newcastle’s gay village, around Times Square and the Bigg Market, always gets busy. Bars and clubs there host special DJs and themed nights all weekend. It’s where the party goes on late.

If you’re planning to go to Newcastle Pride 2026, book your room early. The festival on the Town Moor is usually free. Some club nights or special events might need tickets, so check ahead. Newcastle has all sorts of places to stay, from cheap hostels to boutique hotels and luxury spots. The city center puts you close to everything and transport. The Quayside has good views and restaurants. Or stay in the gay village if you want to be near the nightlife. This event brings in 20,000 to 25,000 people over the weekend. Hotels fill up fast, especially downtown. Book your room months in advance if you want a decent choice and price. Newcastle Pride feels like a big, happy party. It gets all kinds of people: LGBTQ+ individuals of every age, families, allies, tourists. Everyone comes together to celebrate and push for equality in a welcoming, festive mood.
