Not quite sure where to start. The building itself is beautiful from the outside, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. I was initially allocated Room 123. The front desk staff were genuinely lovely, polite, and professional throughout my stay, and spent a great deal of time trying to make up for the shortcomings of the hotel management. They deserve recognition for their efforts. When I arrived in my room, I was shocked by its condition. There was mould in the bathroom, visible water damage, broken tiles, chipped paintwork, and a general sense of neglect. Shortly after arriving, a maintenance worker knocked on my door and informed me that the hot water was not working. something I had not been told beforehand. He said he would attempt to fix it while I was out for the evening. When I returned, I checked the water and it was still cold. I called reception and was told someone would come up. Ten minutes passed and nobody arrived. I called again. By this point it was after midnight. Someone eventually came, attempted a repair, said they would return, and never did. As a result, I ended up having an ice-cold shower the following morning. The next day I was moved to Room 176. Unfortunately, this room was no better. There was a strong artificial fragrance throughout the room that made me feel dizzy and nauseous. The room itself was in poor condition, with spider webs, mould, chipped wallpaper, and generally outdated and poorly maintained furnishings. I was then moved again, this time to Room 175. By this stage I had simply given up and accepted that I only had one more night to endure. Once again, the front desk staff did everything they could to help, even providing a fan in an attempt to reduce the overwhelming artificial scent. We were offered a complimentary drink as a goodwill gesture, which was appreciated. However, we were later informed that this was limited to a small glass of wine. While not a major issue in itself, it felt indicative of the hotel’s overall approach to customer service. My colleague had a similar bad experience. He was allocated a room designed for guests with disabilities, despite not requiring those facilities. Not only was the room unsuitable for him, but it should arguably have been kept available for guests who genuinely needed those accommodations. For the amount of money charged, I would have expected a standard at least three times better than what was provided. The condition of the rooms, maintenance issues, lack of communication, and overall state of the hotel were simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, one evening we returned to find the hotel entrance locked. We called the number displayed on the door multiple times and repeatedly rang the bell, yet were left standing outside for around ten minutes before someone finally let us in. Aside from the attractive exterior and the excellent front desk staff, there is very little positive I can say about this hotel. I will certainly not return and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. Shocking, disappointing, and completely unacceptable.

Have stayed before and liked the hotel but putting customers in a room that is effectively a night club is simply unacceptable

Great place, great service. Staff was excellent and their morning breakfast was needed each day. Saved me so much time including them.
