Lovey venue. Staff welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed a very good set menu of three courses. Lovey grounds, but unfortunately not at there best given the real earth scorching due to recent extreme weather.
Went on voucher deal for facial and afternoon tea. There have been a lot of renovations since my last visit a few years ago. It was lovely before but is even more so now. Staff, service and food were all top notch. Highly recommended Another visit. Went for Sunday lunch on Travelzoo voucher deal and as with all other visits had an outstanding experience. Buffet starters were amazing. Exceptional choice of food of exceptional quality. Carvery for main was carved by the chef and lovely choice of veg. Huge choice of delicious desserts available buffet style plus very good selection on cheese board. Friendly attentive staff, easy parking. Highly recommended.
Nice hotel. Good although limited set menu (many items had supplement costs).
We stayed for 2 nights. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The hotel is looking a little tired around the edges but the stay was comfortable. However, I would *strongly* recommend avoiding the restaurant if you possibly can. We arrived for dinner around opening (6pm). The restaurant was mostly empty. The maître d' informed us that because they had a party of 30 arriving later that evening, there would be a wait on food. I enquired about a basic kids' pasta, and was told that the wait would be up to 40 minutes because "we'd have to boil the water"(?) We ordered a starter, ribeye steak, lamp rump, and two kids' meals (a pasta and a fish and chips). The food is priced as a high-end restaurant: the steak was £35. An hour later the party of 30 had still not arrived, and nor had our food. The restaurant was perhaps a quarter full. After an hour and quarter, our food finally arrived all together. It seems they must have spent the entire 1h15 cooking the "medium rare" steak, as it was beyonf cooked through and rather hard. The lamb rump was small, rubbery and I'm fairly sure had been reheated from cooked. The kids' food was actually better: standard food service fare that you'd expect in any chain pub. If we'd known of the wait or of the extremely poor quality of the food upfront, we'd have 100% walked into town to any other restaurant. It is such a shame that the restaurant lets down an otherwise decent hotel. The day we left there was a wedding happening. If you're planning a wedding and reading these reviews, I implore you to use external catering! I do hope their culinary experience was better than ours.
Two night stay. Great service. Dinner and breakfast very nice.
Had Sunday lunch at the oatlands hotel plenty of food although could have been more meat in offer for the main course, was not impressed with hotel lounge areas and the restaurant could do with some upgrade to both areas to make it a bit more luxurious very bland and plain and tired looking for a four star hotel, grounds looked lovely.
Had a 2 night stay whilst going to Epsom Derby. Reception staff were nice but I don’t agree to £50 per night being placed on your credit card. The staff at breakfast seemed very rushed and didn’t really have much understanding of customer service with a smile plus tables were left uncleared for a while and then when cleaned it would be easier to bring a tray and take all the items not numerous trips to the same table. Our second breakfast we were told we could have porridge and order eggs cooked the way we would like…there just is no consistency among the staff!! The one person I would like to say well done to was Lydia the bar manager there was nothing to much trouble for her and she was one of the Rare members of staff that smiled with excellent service.
