Hôtel Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, an IHG

Had such a lovely stay - the hotel itself was great, really clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location. But what really made the experience stand out was Anna on reception. She was absolutely fantastic from start to finish - so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful with everything we needed. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and she really made us feel looked after. It’s rare to come across service like that, and it made a big difference to our stay. We’ll definitely be back again - thank you Anna!

When we checked into the hotel, the front office staff member (lady) gave us a very shocking expression. Without even greeting us, she simply asked “Why?” in a rude manner. She gave us a very hard time during the check-in process. She took my mobile phone to check the booking details, went inside the office, and stayed there for more than 20 minutes without any explanation. After travelling, we came hoping to rest, but instead we had a very stressful experience. I would kindly suggest training your staff to treat customers with respect and hospitality. I’m really disappointed ☹️ I have never experienced this kind of treatment before, even in smaller hotels.

Paid $279 per night and honestly felt like I was staying in a rundown motel rather than a supposed premium hotel. The room was outdated, with old furniture, worn-out bedding, and tired amenities that clearly haven’t been refreshed in years. What made the experience worse was the service — when I raised concerns, the hotel manager literally laughed and said they “can’t comment.” Completely unprofessional and dismissive. For the price they’re charging, this is unacceptable. You’re far better off booking somewhere else for a few nights where you actually get value for your money. Definitely not worth it.

Some small concerns with the bathroom, otherwise the room was great.

Good location with tram stop at doorstep. Sara at the reception was great, offered us early check in and late check out and upgraded us to 23rd floor. Room was very spacious, a bit dated but very well maintained. Amazing sea & skyline from the balcony, might feel a bit daunting as very narrow. Room has a coffee machine. Bathroom is spacious but shower door was very mouldy. Room was very quiet. The revolving restaurant on 26th floor had 270 degree view of the surroundings. Staff was very friendly and allowed us to take photos although we didnt eat there. Pool and deck on the ground floor is good with a heated jacuzzi. The lifts are on the outside with views of the hinterland. There is a restaurant in the lobby. Although a bit pricey, would definitely stay again.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Crowne Plaza Queensland and I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the experience. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the entire hotel was spotless, modern, and incredibly comfortable. A special thank you to Kunal and Anna at reception who truly went above and beyond during my stay. They were both so warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Every interaction with them made me feel valued and welcomed, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Their positive attitude, kindness, and outstanding customer service made such a lasting impression on me. It’s rare to come across staff who make you feel so comfortable and looked after, but Kunal and Anna did exactly that. They are an absolute credit to the Crowne Plaza team and genuinely the reason I would choose to return here again in the future. Thank you again for such an amazing experience. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for excellent service, comfort, and a memorable stay.

We recently stayed at Crowne Plaza and overall had a good experience. The room was nice, the location was great, and the parking was convenient, although it does cost extra. There were a few downsides though. The rooms weren’t very soundproof, so we could hear a lot of noise from other rooms and hallways. Housekeeping was done daily, but the cleaning standard could have been better as dusting seemed to be overlooked. One thing that really disappointed us was our experience when we went to check the breakfast options. We hadn’t booked breakfast and just wanted to have a look at the menu. After giving our room number, one staff member rather rudely told us that our room number “does not exist in this hotel.” A moment later, after checking the system properly, they realized it actually did. The interaction felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming, and we ended up deciding not to have breakfast there at all. Overall, the stay was decent, but there’s definitely room for improvement in customer service and room soundproofing.

Cannot recommend staying at Crowne Plaza enough! The customer service is perfection - Christian the Guest Experience Manager went above and beyond to ensure my friend and I had a lovely overnight stay despite the last minute booking! The ocean views from the room were magnificent and the location was very convenient as we were so close to Pacific Fair for dinner and cinema plans. The staff were all very friendly and everything went smooth and professionally. Will definitely be staying again in the near future :)

While the staff here were professional, friendly, and did their absolute best, the structural issues with this property require urgent management attention. I made the mistake of relying on the brand’s global reputation without checking recent reviews, which I now see some of which echo my frustrations. The main issue was the climate control. I never thought I’d be freezing in Queensland, but my room was freezing cold on the first night. Despite cranking the thermostat, nothing changed. I notified the front desk the next morning, and while they sent maintenance who claimed it was "fixed," the second night was just as cold. As someone who usually finds Sydney winters mild, this was surprisingly unbearable. After demanding a solution, I was provided with a blanket and a manual space heater. Using a space heater on a carpeted hotel floor is a massive safety concern. Between the fire risk and a timer that required resetting every 20–30 minutes, I got almost no sleep during my three-night stay. I’ve stayed in everything from 5-star luxury to $100-a-night motels across many cities in Australia; even the cheapest motels had functional ACs. Had this been December rather than May, the lack of cooling would have been a health hazard. Management needs to address these basic infrastructure failings immediately. If Management is interested, I have videos of the thermostat showing the set temperature versus the room’s actual temperature as evidence. Anyway, never again at this hotel.
