Hôtel Courtyard de Kelly

If / when we come back to Beijing we’d stay here again. Mark was extremely helpful with our trip and went above and beyond. The location is great as was the aesthetic of the building. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The hotel is located 5-10 min. from the main road. Mark, the Hotel Manager, speaks very well English and helps you get around. His help made everything easily and smoothly. The hotel is not so big, but quiet, comfortable and has a terrace on the roof. We enjoyed staying there very much and thank Mark and his staff for the great and wonderful experience. Unique stay with rooms arranged around the shared courtyard. Super location (not exactly the one on Google!), neat, safe streets, and the metro (10-minute walk) takes you directly to anywhere in the city. Shops and various restaurants within walking distance. Very quiet, and Mark is very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. The photos are exactly as it is; the rooftop terrace was slightly less appealing.

At first glance, the location of the place doesn't seem ideal. However, it was one of the warmest and most pleasant hotels I've ever stayed at. Mark and Kelly have earned my admiration for how well-maintained they are at the hotel. Unfortunately, I traveled to Beijing from Mexico, and it wasn't cheap, but if I could go to Beijing again, I would stay at Kelly's Hotel for three times as long without a second thought. This is a great place and in a good location The rooms are a little small.

If you're looking for a taste of authentic Beijing, rather than the standard offerings of national or international hotel chains, this is the place for you. Located in a beautifully renovated traditional hutong, with period-appropriate rooms and beds, a cozy covered courtyard, and a sunny rooftop terrace, you'll feel right at home. Add to that a very friendly and helpful staff and an exceptionally charming, dedicated, knowledgeable, and attentive hotel manager who speaks perfect English and is always available both before your trip and during your stay. Reliable Wi-Fi and 24-hour beverage service are also provided. This small hotel, with rooms all arranged around the covered courtyard, is situated off the beaten tourist track in a renovated hutong district: safe, quiet, and very authentic, with several Chinese restaurants within walking distance where you'll be served even without speaking the language and can enjoy incredibly delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine. Beijing at its best! One thing to note: The entrance is rather unassuming and doesn't immediately suggest that it's a guesthouse. Nevertheless, don't be afraid to ring the bell at number 25. The alleys directly in front of the guesthouse are very narrow, so taxis can't drive right up to the door. It's best to download a GPS-based map of Beijing beforehand. At the beginning of the alley, there's a prominent sign for Kelly. The hotel staff will gladly help with your luggage upon departure. The architecture of the traditional hutong offers little privacy and hardly any soundproofing inside. However, because of the quiet location, there's practically no outside noise, despite the relatively short distance to many of Beijing's hotspots. Don't expect Western breakfast standards, or anything based on chain hotel experiences. The coffee is excellent nonetheless. I stayed there on two beautiful, warm autumn days, but I managed perfectly well at night despite the historically limited soundproofing of the rooms. Anyone willing to accept these limitations in exchange for a very hospitable and authentic Beijing experience will have an unforgettable time at Kelly's.
