Carta Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi

The bus stop was right in front of the hotel, which was convenient. It was clean and comfortable.

The property is in a great location, just a 10-minute walk from the center and well-connected by bus and metro. The rooms are relatively new and have various amenities. Although the photos are on Booking.com, they don't convey how small they are (even smaller than typical Japanese standards). Despite being relatively well-designed, with drawers and mezzanines to store as many things as possible, they are truly tiny and unlivable. This is made worse by the fact that the room is filled with what I consider to be useless items. A floor lamp, a heater, a dehumidifier...but the room is so small you don't even have room to open your suitcases. The same goes for the bathroom; there's only one small shelf, and it's full of extras like plastic cups, toothbrushes, shower caps, etc. These are "nice touches," but given the limited space, they should be left free instead of filled with trivial and sometimes pointless items. Added to this is the fact that the room is freezing cold, and even turning on the heat doesn't raise the temperature much. Furthermore, there's no service; the room was never cleaned in 5 days (in fact, the floor was filthy at one point), and to get your towels changed or the garbage removed, you had to put them outside the door yourself. Objectively, this hotel is cheap, and in fact, you get very little. It's fine for a night or two, but not more.

Great location, friendly stuff

We had an interesting experience and not sure if we got treated fairly or honestly. Please note there are major loud construction works going on next door. The staff were really friendly and nice. We found the owner of the place made out that we were the inconvenience. We booked trying to find a nice place to get some rest. This was not the case. We had to move on costing us taxi and booing another hotel that was cheeper and much nicer. Please consider you options. The pictures and the price didn't line up with what we got.

1. I booked a room with a city view, but the room only showed the wall of the adjacent building. 2. There were no windows in the room, so it was very dusty. As a result, I sneezed frequently. 3. I understand that there might be some dust since the floor is carpeted, but there was much more than I expected. 4. The bed was very damp. It was also full of dust, and since they didn't clean it in the morning, I had to buy a lint roller and remove the dust myself. (I don't understand why they make the customer do this.) 5. When I put water or drinks in the refrigerator, they weren't cold; they were lukewarm. This accommodation has absolutely no redeeming qualities and is a waste of money. I wonder if they have any conscience charging such a high price for a place of this quality lol. Everyone, don't trust the photos when booking accommodations^^

I stayed 3 nights and 4 days in this hotel. The location is perfect, very convenient for both Kyoto Station and the center of Kyoto, where all the shops and restaurants are located. The rooms are a bit small, but overall they're not bad, and they even have a nice view depending on the floor. The problem, in my opinion, is the service: I booked this hotel to try to get the usual amenities, but the room was never cleaned, and if the towels needed changing, you had to put them outside the door in a special basket. Having booked for several days, the bathroom needed a clean, and the carpet needed vacuuming. From 10 pm to 9 am, there's no one at the reception, and if there are any problems, it's not very convenient. The staff was very friendly, but I gave it a 1 because I don't think it's acceptable for a hotel not to clean the rooms daily and for there to be no one in the lobby.

When you book a room, it says you have a city view, but in reality, you have a view of a wall. They're lying, and the price is no lower.

I loved Asakusa - quiet and well connected to other areas. The hotel is more like a residence- micro apartments with everything. It’s just that they’re VERY small so if you’re a couple traveling, Like us, keep that in mind

We had a terrible tiny room on the second floor without daylight, as the windows are completely covered by the wall of the building next door. it’s a literal shoe box. Furthermore, the room was damp and bad smells were coming out of the toilet. Location is the only positive thing

The location was good and it was a Sunday night so it was a comfortable stay at a low price.
