Welcome Hotel Essen

A 4-star hotel, but in my opinion, it could be better. It is ideally located in the city center, though. Upon arrival in the afternoon after a long drive, we wanted to get a drink; the bar didn't open until 5 PM. There was a vending machine, but paying with coins is outdated. There was no opener at the machine. The room is okay. The mattress sags a bit, but the pillows are fine. No internet access on the TV. There is a coffee machine in the room, but you have to buy the capsules for €1.00 at reception. Instant coffee and tea are available, though these are not replenished during a longer stay. Showering in the bathtub remains tricky; there is no proper ventilation. Shower gel was already empty on the second day. The mixer tap does not work properly. The rolls at breakfast were not fresh. The evening buffet was okay and affordable. The parking garage is okay at €15.00 per day. Narrow lanes for driving in and out.

A beautiful, modern hotel, very centrally located to the city center; breakfast was very tasty and varied.

Cheap hotel on the outskirts of the city with many shortcomings and problems, unfortunately. The shower and bathroom are an absolute disaster. I have attached videos of a shower head falling down, a leak from the shower cabin causing the entire bathroom to get wet, and upon arrival, all soap dispensers were empty. The television is not a smart TV, the air conditioning fails to cool the room even on the highest setting, and the safe in the room is so small that nothing fits in it. The coffee machine in the room works with capsules, but you have to buy them and they are not included. The WiFi, however, works fine. The staff works hard and is helpful. The gym is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, so you don't really use it anyway. I didn't receive any explanation about this either. The rooms are noisy and the neighbors are a nuisance. I will never come back here.

Very clean hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Generous breakfast, the coffee was delicious! Clean room, comfortable bed.

A few days ago, I spent a night at the Ramada Hotel Essen with friends, and frankly, one thing was absolutely unacceptable. After our evening walk, we returned to find that, incredibly by today's standards, the hotel doesn't offer room key access. Instead, we stood outside for over five minutes, dependent on someone inside to open the door for us. This is extremely frustrating and simply outdated. In a modern hotel, secure and independent access for guests should be a given. This dependence on others is a clear drawback and urgently needs improvement.

Room was not cleaned, and no coffee provided for the machine. I guess I should have expected this at a Ramada. But this is even worse than usual. Receptionist was too busy watching football to speak to us about it, so it'll be interesting to see if anything gets sorted following this review.
