Hôtel Valentino

Terrible value for money. Poor maintenance of all areas, from the common areas to the rooms. I understand the historic building and the difficulty in carrying out major renovations, but there are no excuses for the state of the bathrooms, the narrow spaces, the unsafe outlets and power strips, the hair in the bed... and so much more. Convenient location and even quiet despite the "nightlife."

We stayed 3 nights in September. It is a great location for exploring Catania. I had read previous reviews after booking and was a little worried, but it was not warranted. The staff were very helpful and got the air conditioning to work (magic touch I guess). The room was large with a beautiful ornate and high ceiling. There were no noise issues.

Highly not recommended. The hotel is dirty, with encrusted bathrooms, curtains, and doors dirty, and the air conditioning doesn't work. The only positive is the central location.

If you love bathrooms with clogged sinks, spider-like roommates, and cardboard-like doors, this is the perfect place! Add a seedy neighborhood and music blasting into the night: more than a hotel, it's an extreme experience.

I have to give one star because I'm forced to, but this place doesn't even deserve a smirk. My experience with rooms 104 and 113 was worthy of the reviews warning about this 19th-century wonder. From the poor sanitation and hygiene, it's immediately clear they're trying to recreate stalactites and stalagmites due to the filthy amount of limestone. VINTAGE doesn't necessarily mean DIRTY. Room 113 has NO air conditioning, not because it doesn't work, but because it has a timer that prevents it from running at night. The owner was super responsive and made himself available, but he didn't solve our problem, even though I had warned them that someone with asthma was staying there. The view from 113 is of the floor of a restaurant; you'll be intoxicated by the fabulous aromas of the cuisine. The view from 104, however, overlooks a beautiful Orthodox church, a meeting place for drug addicts and immigrants 💗 Maintenance is essential, but considering the condition of the entire facility, it's clear that you're content to bill one night at a time and say goodbye to those who unfortunately end up staying in your rooms, even if it's just for one night.
