LA CUCINA DI SONIA

We were super excited and curious about this restaurant after the many good reviews. I had a good night but was somewhat disappointed. First of all, we were with three people but only got two little focaccia breads which we had to share (and we saw other people get three or more even though they were with only two people). The focaccia bread was amazing, but that was a bit disappointing because the other bread was a bit boring. We got some olive oil with the bread, but it was so little that it was finished when we still had half of the basket left and did not get more olive oil from the waiter. Secondly, there were only five choices on the menu of which 4 were fish and 1 was vegetarian. My fish dish was amazing, but my friends don’t eat fish and thought the vegetarian pesto was nice but a little bit boring. Thirdly, the prices on google are a bit misleading. 20-30 euro’s is only correct when you buy the cheapest dish (only a primi without starter), have one drink and don’t take desert (the main dishes were almost all more than 30 euro’s). All in all, we had a good experience but price-quality was definitely lower than in la rune or trattoria delle grazie for example. My fish dish was definitely worth 5 stars, but because of the lack of choices, lower price-quality and worse service than in other places, i give the place 3 stars.

This very small familiar restaurant has the best food in Italy. Go there to try the best Italian dishes!

Everything was perfect, and we tasted an excellent wine. A mother and son who make beautiful Italian cuisine, light and flavorful, with a menu that changes daily. We loved it.

Super genuine place with amazing service!

Excellent restaurant. Located in the historic center of Genoa. Homemade cuisine prepared by Sonia, the waiter's mother. A wonderful team. I also recommend the local Pigato white wine, which pairs perfectly with the fish. Remember to book at least the day before to be sure of getting a table, as it's a small restaurant with only 7 tables. I greatly appreciated the warm welcome, the helpful advice, and the thoughtful touch of complimentary coffee. In short, a must-visit.

Excellent place, small but delicious menu, very warm and comfortable atmosphere. Luca served us and speaks several languages, so we had no problem in that regard. A very nice and highly recommended experience.

Not much space – so it's best to book. The service was excellent despite us being a somewhat difficult table (we don't speak Italian and there were two adults and two young children). We had a very good meal. Fresh, homemade products and the fish of the day. Considering the work involved, the prices seem very reasonable. We had a very pleasant evening.

Amazing pesto... great attention to detail. Spectacular dishes and incredible tiramisu.
