Hôtel Isola Bella

While the view is gorgeous, the hotel room was dirty, had no AC and no solution to help other than open the sliding door to the balcony, where we were bit by mosquitoes all night. Bathroom was practically unusable. Much more of a hostel. Would not stay again. Staff was nice though.

Nice view from front patio. Reception person was very nice. Room is okay, bath very small. GPS did not bring us to the location and there is no parking. Continue past cable car parking lot about 500m to location. Last minute booking for us on a holiday weekend.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The front of the building is extremely noisy, even with everything closed. The rooms are not well maintained.

The view here is ✨superb✨. I got a solo room with the view and it was so worth it! And the staff, especially at the reception are very warm, friendly, and helpful. As a solo woman, I felt safe here. Though, it is in fact downhill from Taormina. The bus stop is just right in front of the hotel, however, the bus schedule is quite unreliable. A few minutes of walk away, there is the cable car going up to the center. I would have wished for the bed and pillow to be less firm, but it was adequate. If you have any questions beforehand, they reply to emails quite fast as well.

The hotel doesn't match the photos on the website (see the state of the pool), it's very poorly soundproofed (you can hear the street, the other rooms, and the hallway even when you're in a room with a sea view), the showers are old and poorly maintained, the bathrooms are tiny (your head is practically against the wall when you're sitting down), the breakfast is decent, there's no parking... the only good thing is the friendliness of one of the receptionists 🤷🏻‍♂️ but that doesn't justify the €1000 half-board week!!

We stayed here for six days at the end of September. The receptionist (wearing glasses) was incredibly nice and welcoming, though I didn't remember his name. He quickly checked us into a room with a window and a gorgeous view of Isola Bella, rather than a balcony (as we'd booked). The room had everything we needed: a safe, a refrigerator, and the bathroom was stocked with essential shampoos and shower gels. I've been to many hotels and showers, and this one ranks among the smallest and most tiniest! Another downside was the incredibly hard mattress; you'd have to look hard to find one like that! There's almost constant traffic right outside the window, so on the way to the beach, you'll have to be careful to avoid getting hit by cars or scooters. The breakfast was good, with hot dishes (omelettes, sausages, and bacon), decent coffee, and a terrifying fruit drink, clearly made from concentrate. Croissants (excellent), pastries, bread, various jams, fruit, cheese, and cold meats are also available. You can have breakfast on the terrace with a stunning view, which is exactly what we did. There's a bus stop next to the hotel, with connections to Taormina (for example) every half hour. Overall, I recommend the hotel; the price was reasonable for Taormina, but be sure to bring a portable shower and a soft mattress.

Noisy rooms. Disturbed early in the morning by the incessant ringing of the housekeeping phone. Critically inadequate parking. You have to walk 500 meters along a very busy road with no sidewalk, where Sicilians, like everywhere else on their island, have no respect or consideration for pedestrians, who are in danger.

Very very basic but a great location. Literally a stones throw from the beach with an amazing view in particular from the room’s balcony. We spent the day at the beach & loved it. €30 for two sunbeds & an umbrella for the day (although more in peak season). Seriously don’t expect anything other than a bed and a bathroom (thankfully air con albeit noisy). Very dated room but it was suffice for three nights on the beach. Staff were nice and helpful when needed. Next time we’ll stay up the hill in actual Taormina as much more atmosphere, restaurants, bars etc. Will also save on the €10 return cable car trip each day. Overall, we probably wouldn’t stay here again. If you choose to though, go on with a very open mind.

The view from the hotel room was absolutely stunning, the breakfast very tasty, and the staff helpful. With the bus stop right outside the hotel, it’s easy to reach both the city centre and the train station.
