Mercure Hotel Inverness

While there's nothing to complain about the location and rooms , We had to suffer financial loss due to the carelessness of a staff member. They misused the authority to use the credit card to debit the amount of about 325 pounds even though the amount was paid for through the points well in advance while booking itself. They didn't even bother to inform us about the same while checking in or during our stay even when we were physically present in the hotel room. Fortunately for us, we got a timely intimation of the same from our card company and had to approach the reception to ensure that the same is reversed immediately. However, this resulted in us bearing the forex exchange transaction of upto 5% by our bank. This raises serious concerns about the misused authority to debit undue amounts without bothering to check the payments already received and leaving the onus of asking for reversal on the guest who may have already checked out of the hotel and left the country. This is not a practice I would expect from a reputable hotel group whose hospitality I have mostly enjoyed and where I have stayed for almost 50 nights this year being a gold member.

The hotel is rated as 4 stars, but it does not deserve them. We stayed in 2 different rooms across 2 stays and each had several issues. This has been the largest hotel in town and has no real competitors. It seems like it earned its 4 stars a long while back and has just coasted since then. It has premium pricing but the experience doesn't match it.

Nice clean room. We had a view on the river and the mountains. Service is impeccable. We checked in early (13h). That was very convenient given that we arrived by train at 12h. They kept our luggages until the room was ready. The location is great! 2 minute walk from the train station and directly on the main street. Breakfast and supper with a nice variety. Many gluten-free options. Hotel could benefit in having automatic doors. I would highly recommended this hotel

As a tour guide, I have come a few times for lunch at the Mercure Inverness and the service is always excellent. Since I'm a pescatarian, I've had nice sea bass as main. Today we've had the pleasure of being welcomed and served by Silvy and Emma. Thank you, ladies! And thank you Silvy for using a few French words to communicate with the group!

The hotel is very run down, the rooms are uncomfortable, it's very expensive for what it offers, and the heating doesn't work.

The Mercure is a nice hotel, falls in the mid range but older category. The food was great, well we only had breakfast but good selection at a decent price. Some of the staff are pleasant and friendly while others are young and immature. I was particularly unimpressed with Chantal and Madison, full of attitude and it seemed as though one made a rude remark as we exited the breakfast dining room.

Group travel meal. Clean place and good food.
