.My boss stays at this hotel every year. After leaving a T-shirt in his room, I contacted the hotel via WhatsApp. They confirmed they had found it and asked me to pay €75 for shipping, which I paid immediately. Since then, one week has passed with no tracking number, no invoice and no update whatsoever. I contacted them again yesterday and, once again, received no response. Charging €75 to ship a T-shirt is already excessive, but taking the payment and then simply ignoring the customer is completely unacceptable for a hotel of this standard.
Plus Good location Minus No lager beer on the rooftop, only IPA. Was there two days in a row. But no, there wasn't. Sad that they have the same "pool menu" for food both day and evening. Didn't feel like a 5-star hotel then. They had also forgotten to deduct the voucher on the final invoice. If I hadn't asked for the receipt, we wouldn't have noticed it.
We had a really lovely stay at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, and one of the biggest highlights for us was the location. The hotel is right on Passeig de Gràcia, in the heart of the city, and it’s incredibly convenient for exploring Barcelona. It’s just steps away from Casa Batlló and only about a 5-minute walk to La Pedrera (Casa Milà). There are also plenty of shops, restaurants and other attractions within easy walking distance, and the metro is very close by, which makes getting around the city very easy. La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter are also within walking distance. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which had a great variety of choices. There was plenty to choose from, and it was a very nice way to start the day. The gym was also good — not huge, but it had enough equipment for a proper workout while travelling, which was more than sufficient for us. We also spent some time at the rooftop bar, which has a lovely atmosphere and is a nice place to enjoy a drink. Unfortunately, during our visit it was quite hot and windy, so we couldn’t enjoy it as much as we would have liked. Of course, that’s more about the weather than the hotel itself! What really stood out throughout our stay was the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional and attentive, and we always felt well taken care of. Overall, Mandarin Oriental Barcelona is a great choice if you want to stay somewhere central, comfortable and convenient, especially if you plan to explore the city on foot. The location is hard to beat, and the warm and attentive service made our stay even more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and would happily stay here again when visiting Barcelona! ❤️
Great location, extra-friendly service, beautiful hotel inside & outside. Rooms were a good size & breakfasts were very good. Great art gallery right below hotel & can see from entrance. Would definitely stay again!!!
First time staying at MO Barcelona and super impressed by the hotel. It's located right in the centre of the city so I was worried about street noise - however, we had a garden room, set at the back of the hotel overlooking their rear gardens. And it was super quiet, one of the quietest hotels I've every stayed in. And their airconditioning was effective and also very quite, clearly someone had thought of this when they designed and built the hotel, so bravo to them. Breakfast was very good, lots of variety and excellent service. Only two minor issues, the doors in the bathrooms don't close 100% (leaving a few cm gap) and the wardrobe cupboards didn't have a soft-close function on them (I kept forgetting and drove my partner mad as if slamming the doors on purpose...). But because of the service, and attention to detail re the noise issue I think 5 stars is deserving here. Would return.
We would like to thank the MO Barcelona team for a most wonderful stay. It was my wife's first visit to your beautiful city and my first after over 20 years and the MO offered us the perfect reason to plan our return in the very near future! Thank you for taking care of us like guests of your own home. If the team represents the soul of the hotel, then the MO Barcelona has a warm, kind and robust soul. You have an incredible team who are obviously passionate about what you do - not just seeing this as a job providing service but a calling to give the best hospitality to every guest who steps through your door. Yours must be one of the best and most hardworking concierge desks I have come across. The team are always at their stations, their fingers at the ready to search for the best restaurants and find those last minute tickets. Every concierge needs a Maria! She is such a bolt of energy and a bastion of local knowledge - even when she is working consecutive shifts in the evening and the following morning! I saw multiple guests going to her to thank her for her priceless advice. And she leads a great team including Danny who is quite the opposite in terms of his temperament but just as effective and efficient. The front desk colleagues, bellmen and hosts at the breakfast venue exhibited the same level of energy and commitment. Every one of our questions and requests were accommodated with a warm smile and kind gesture. On our first night, our Chromecast did work and Jiji personally came up to our room and patiently fixed the problem - at 11pm at night! This is exactly what sets the MO apart from your peers - a fanatic desire to make sure your Fans are 100% comfortable. We really enjoyed your elegant and practical rooms with the French balcony overlooking the iconic Pg de Gracia. The bed was so comfortable that we almost missed breakfast every morning! The water pressure of the shower was excellent - one of the most important qualities of a luxury bathroom in my books (nothing like starting and ending the day with a literal blast!). And the hardwood floors completed the city pied-a-terre feel of the set-up. Finally the shared spaces including the restaurants and gym were all beautiful and well-designed: fitting for a property in Gaudi's birthplace (he would have been proud!). We enjoyed a breezy evening at the rooftop bar, an elegant postprandial nightcap at the Banker's Bar and regular exercise in your well-equipped gym. The MO Barcelona had a high bar to pass after our excellent experience at the MO Madrid and I am so delighted that you have managed to make this an equally fabulous and FAN-tastic four nights. We can't wait to bring our boys and our friends back!
This has been a beautiful experience! so calm, so comfortable, so kind. From check in, the young woman asked when I was last in Barcelona, I said twenty years ago, she laughed - before I was born she said - lovely authentic customer service - she will go far! The room was so comfortable - I slept so well. All the staff were kind and clear. lovely Caterina who I chatted to, very kind and helpful. I told her that the chap who welcomed me to the roof terrace might not have thought I was cool enough to be up there ( one of a few moments that could be improved on) and she was so kind and clear, ( again, simple principles of making someone feel cared for). This hotel is sensational. Fun and human. One other tiny thing... room service... you shouldn't have to wait 40 minutes for an aperol spritz to your room at 5pm! But that is minor when every other aspect is so perfect! thank you!
Very nice experience on the rooftop, thanks to Enzo for his kindness and for his help when choosing the cocktails. Everything was perfect
There were some disrepectufl guests with disruptive behaviour. The staff in the front reception was unwilling to listen and rude.
I recently stayed at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona with my daughter for 4 nights. For context, I have travelled extensively and stayed in many five star hotels, both in cities and resorts. We arrived just after the Tour de France time trial had finished, a bit exhausted after a flight delay, getting from the airport by train and after having dealt with some really rude and unhelpful staff at the train station! We instantly relaxed the second we met JiJi at check-in. What a lovely guy – so helpful and calming after a long journey. From that point on, our impressions of Mandarin Oriental were set, and just got better. My daughter was celebrating her birthday the day after and we had been left cake, handwritten cards, and cava in our room – such a lovely touch. She also was delivered more birthday cake at breakfast, which was a nice surprise! We had booked the entry level room (deluxe garden room king) as I specifically wanted to be facing the rear of the hotel and not the busy street outside. I had requested a quiet room on a high floor, and no surprise – they delivered! Our room on the 6th floor was a sanctuary – literally no noise whatsoever for the whole of our stay, except for some noise during the day from the small school behind – it was actually quite nice watching the Spanish children play basketball, and felt ‘real’. On the first morning we realised our safe wasn’t working, so asked Reception if they wouldn’t mind taking a look. They said they would send security. When we returned to our room a very short while later, the whole safe had been replaced! No fuss, they just did what they promised, and it was very refreshing not to have to chase things up, like you may do in other hotels. Barcelona is a busy city and Passeig de Gracia is a busy street. As soon as you reach the lovely door guys, and step foot on the carpeted ramp up to Reception you literally feel like you are entering an oasis of calm. It’s the perfect antidote to what’s going on outside. Yet, it is in a wonderful location – steps to fabulous shopping, strolling and eating. I considered many properties before settling on the MO. Specifically I was tempted by Hotel Arts and its sea views and recent refurbishment, larger rooms etc. I am so glad I didn’t go for it. What Hotel Arts may have in views, the MO more than makes up for in peace and quiet. Be aware that the area around the beach is full of night clubs, with loud noise, and pumping bass until breakfast time. It also does not deliver on having so much on your doorstep. I would not in a million years have swapped sea views and noise for our experience at the MO. No thank you! This hotel has so many staff! You can tell how much they care about customer service. Every member of staff looked professional, acted professional, was friendly, courteous and a real credit to the hotel and the MO brand. Breakfast at the MO is wonderful. Staff are professional, friendly and attentive. The pastries are to die for. An excellent buffet spread and varied a la carte menu. We also ate up at La Terrat. Now this rooftop area is the crowning glory of the hotel. We spent 3 or 4 hours up there on the sunbeds every morning and pretty much had it completely to ourselves. It is peaceful, with fantastic views and a lovely dipping pool. We were looked after so well up there and really took time to relax before heading out each afternoon. It was our favourite part of the hotel. I can strongly recommend the Vegetarian Burger and the vegetarian poke bowl too. If you stay at the MO, do go up to the Terrace! To keep this review balanced, there are just a couple of things I would comment on that could be improved. We asked for a room with a bath and were delighted to get a massive circular bath overlooking the gardens. However, after an hour of the bath taps on full power, it still only had a couple of inches of water in it. We gave up and never used it. The taps just weren’t powerful enough to fill it. The pool in the spa in the basement was quiet, but freezing! Some people might like that, but I do prefer something more heated in an area where you are supposed to relax. Housekeeping was very late in the day - we would come back at 4pm and the room was still not serviced. Not a huge issue, but if you prefer your room done earlier, it is probably worth requesting that. And finally, the TV came on one night at 3am! I think it must have a mind of its own. I do think I also read another review that mentioned this. If I went back, I think I’d probably unplug it, just to be safe!! No big issue at all, it only happened once. In summary, this hotel is in a class of its own in Barcelona. I wholeheartedly recommend it. The service is phenomenal, it’s calm, serene, quiet, luxurious, and in an absolutely perfect location. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Well done MO Barcelona, I’m definitely a Fan!
