Boutique Hotel Belle Epoque

We spent a quiet night in a room on the 4th floor. The room was nicely and practically furnished. It had a coffee machine, kettle, and two bottles of water, which we greatly appreciated. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was varied. The location in the old town is ideal for visiting the Bear Pit or, as in our case, for participating in the Megamarsch.

I had a very comfortable and spacious room. The location is top notch. Very friendly staff. I would love to come back here.

The bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom functional, so the essentials were in order. The hotel is situated at the far end of the Old Town, about a 5-minute walk from major sights such as the Cathedral and the Zytgloggeturm. Across the river is the well-known Swiss restaurant Altes Tramdepot, which also offers panoramic views of Bern. A bus stop is located next to the hotel. Bus line 12 runs directly to the Paul Klee Center, while line 10 passes the main railway station, about 1 mile away. Both lines operate frequently and are convenient if you prefer not to walk uphill to the city center. The property itself is in need of refurbishment. The attic room I stayed in had no real view, only two roof windows, and would likely be hot in summer. During my stay, with cooler night and daytime temperatures, the two fans provided were sufficient to keep the room reasonably comfortable.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the old town, which is incredibly convenient if you want to explore the city. The Bern Bears are easily accessible. And there's a very good restaurant right next door. We stayed on the 5th floor, and from there you can't see much besides the city's rooftops. The room was large and comfortable. A refrigerator would have been great, but otherwise we were satisfied.

The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The room had a charming, old-world feel, was very clean, and I was extremely satisfied. I tend to get hot easily, and even though my stay was in August, I was able to sleep comfortably at night by using the fan. The complimentary water and fruit were very much appreciated. They also held my luggage for me and accommodated my early morning check-out, providing excellent service.

About a 20 minute walk to the main Bern train station. Perfect location right in town, walkable to nearly everything. The rooms were pretty good, the only unfortunate thing is we came during a heat wave so the room was quite hot due to the lack of AC, but hotel does provide a portable fan. Other than that our room was great for a 2 night stay, friendly helpful staff.

The Boutique Hotel Belle Epoque is very centrally located in Bern's Old Town. It's perfect for exploring the city on foot. It's about a 20-minute walk from the train station to the hotel. Alternatively, you can take the bus and be almost there in 5 minutes. I spent one night here. The hotel dates back to a bygone era, which they clearly strive to embody, and it has a distinct character. Positive aspects: + Friendly welcome and straightforward check-in + Excellent and central location + Fan in the room (although it was still much too warm) + Easy access (with a badge) in the evenings when the reception is closed, including an orientation. + Blinds allow the room to be completely darkened + Luggage storage + Complimentary bottled water in the room + Slippers provided + Pleasant room size Room for improvement: - The lighting is rather dim in the room in the evenings. - The faucet in room 21 hasn't been descaled in a long time; water sprays out. - The shower head could also use descaling. The hose wasn't properly tightened, and the entire shower rail rotates and should be tightened. - Showering in the bathtub is rather difficult with the small glass panel, as water still leaks out. The room was much too warm (I had trouble sleeping). - Street noise is noticeable (a car or bus every 2-5 minutes). According to other reviews, the rooms not facing the city are quieter. - The door doesn't have an additional locking mechanism (Google: privacy door guard or privacy door bolt), only a rotary lock. ... - Sprinkler system present but no smoke detectors (fires are extinguished, but smoke is a different story) - Strangely placed electrical outlets. There's no outlet by the bedside table. The only easily accessible outlet is on the wall to the left of the bed at the foot. - There were bloodstains on one pillow that were clearly visible through the cover - unacceptable! I don't want to see that as a guest! - The breakfast buffet was basic. Notes > No minibar or refrigerator available (I personally don't need a minibar)

Beautiful interior, in a good location easy to get to with a short hop on the tram from the main train station. Staff friendly and helpful.

The location is simply perfect for tourists. The room I got was clean and spacious with a pretty good view

Hotel Belle Epoque – A Charming Experience with Minor Drawbacks Stepping into the Hotel Belle Epoque is like stepping back in time – in the best possible way! The hotel is small but very stylishly furnished. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful; we felt welcome from the very beginning. Why the deduction in points for the room? Unfortunately, the room didn't have air conditioning. The heat of the past few weeks had become trapped in the room and was almost impossible to dissipate. Even the provided standing fan did little to alleviate the situation, making a restful sleep impossible. The bed itself, however, was very comfortable, with a high-quality mattress. Would I recommend the hotel? Yes – but not during the summer months.
