This place felt just like home. We loved the laid-back freedom of being able to roam around as we pleased and grab coffee or treats whenever we wanted. Aside from the unbeatable room views and convenient station location, the service was incredible, especially from the bartender who served us the best Espresso Martini of our lives! Rain stopped us from using the lounge and heated pool, but we loved how welcome we felt.
A "formerly beautiful four-star hotel," now outdated, which makes the prices inflated... On the plus side: comfortable bedding, a nice little coffee kit in the room, and a very good and varied breakfast. For some, a beautiful view. Not too far from the ferry terminals and train station, which is a plus. On the downside: old, smelly carpets everywhere in some corridors, bathrooms that have seen better days and have been cheaply patched up, leaky ceilings, and a depressing swimming pool... The staff's welcome is inconsistent; friendly at breakfast, but inattentive during aperitifs, which made us leave for lunch... In short, a once-beautiful hotel, expensive for its current state and far from its four-star rating.
Loved this place!
The price-performance ratio is unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. Our expectations were not met at all by this hotel, especially compared to similarly priced hotels in Bath, Fowey, and London during our trip. The room was clean enough, but the restaurant floor was sticky, and some of the dishes weren't clean. The hotel itself clearly shows signs of neglect (fogged-up window panes, water damage in the room that hadn't been painted over, etc.). The staff is very friendly, but they can't compensate for the state of the building and the price per night. Breakfast is also okay, but more in line with a 3-star standard.
This hotel has definitely seen better days. Everything is very old and, in some places, quite dirty. Every other cup/spoon, etc., isn't clean. The staff are very polite and helpful. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to stay at this hotel again.
The view of the harbor from the hotel is pleasant but not spectacular. The hotel is showing its age. The reception was rarely staffed, and the reception staff were inattentive. Overall, the service was poor. Breakfast was adequate. The room offered no seating. All in all, the hotel is overpriced.
