Le St Moritz Hotel Cornwall

Excellent pool, sauna and steam room

My stay at the St Moritz hotel was wonderful apart from one thing: the wifi. The room was a great size, well-appointed and having Cowshed Spa products in the bathroom was a real treat. They also thoughtfully provide a complementary pint of fresh milk in the fridge along with still and sparkling water, and a lovely range of herbal teas. I also had a lovely surprise of two homemade cup cakes waiting in my room as I was celebrating my birthday. The food in the restaurant was incredible. Excellent quality and great attention to detail: the chefs are doing a fabulous job. Breakfasts were also top notch. I had a package including a treatment at the Cowshed Spa which was delightful. The spa itself consists of a pool with a swim-out outdoor bubble pool, along with a couple of saunas and a crystal steam room, plus relaxation space around the pool. The hotel is situated just off the South West Coast path so is perfectly placed for hikers. The hotel offers a free courtesy bus to drop you down into Polzeath or Rock (where you can then get the ferry over to Padstow which I highly recommend). This is such a great service and very helpful when you have hiked all day and don't fancy the walk back up to the hotel! But the wifi... now I appreciate that a hotel stay should be focused on relaxing, and not on spending all your free time on devices. But the wifi is shocking and this really should be a basic facility that is offered. The reception and tech team did their best to keep 'boosting it' to my building, but 2 hours of my free time when I needed internet access and no wifi meant I could not do my work. If this happened once, I could forgive it. But on both days there was zero signal and this is not really acceptable - especially when there was no mobile signal either. Similarly I reported on both nights that the stairwell in my building was completely dark when I was heading back up to my room on the 1st floor. This really needs sorting out as it is a hazard at night. And despite raising this as an issue on the first night, nothing was done to correct it on the second night. It is a shame that some basic maintenance or upgrades can not be done to fix these simple problems. If it were not for these two issues, this would be a 5-star stay.

Just had a great week in one of the self catering houses at St Moritz. It was so relaxing to have our own space but to be able to use all the spa facilities at the hotel with outdoor and new indoor pools, really well equipped gym, saunas and steam room. There's even a Cowshed Spa as well as a restaurant and welcoming bar. Really close to 3 beaches at Polzeath, Greenaway and Daymer and easy to get to Padstow on the foot ferry as the hotel has an electric minibus and will drop you off at the ferry in Rock and pick you up all for free! We stayed in Villa 14 which was super comfortable and really well equipped and had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and great views across the water from the balcony. Dog friendly too so the pooches were super happy and just loved the beach walks and swimming.

Had afternoon tea with my sister. Very good value and delicious nibbles offered. Amount served Very generous. Wasn't that keen on the actual hotel. A bit too glass and mirrors for me, prefer hotels more characterful. Service was efficient and polite. Would certainly recommend. Deducted one star for hotel style, and ambience, which is down to preference.

Had a fantastic time at the St Moritz Hotel Cowshed Spa for the Dine & Unwind. The pool, saunas, showers, and steam room were all top-notch — though it would be even more perfect with the addition of a warm jacuzzi! There’s an outdoor bubble pool, but it’s cold. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We had a baby with us, and she was allowed to stay with her babysitter at the poolside so she could still see us, which was lovely — very welcoming and family-friendly. The food was excellent, couldn’t fault a thing. The chefs were chatty and warm too. It had such a nice, relaxed atmosphere — not at all snooty or uptight like some spas can be. Great experience — would definitely recommend and as its not too far from us we would love to do again. Thanks team!!

We stayed in a villa, it was beautifully presented, very clean (not just surface clean), well stocked with all the crockery and other household items that would be required. The villa was child friendly with an in built stairgate and highchairs had been provided for us. The pool area is well equipped however the changing cubicles are quite small and only one has a baby change facility. The pool itself is both indoors and outdoors, you can swim from inside to an outdoor jacuzzi pool. There is a steam room, sauna and ice fountain wine there are plenty of loungers and other seating around the pool. The restaurant is excellent with all meals freshly prepared, the chefs are friendly and the waiting staff are attentive. I really recommend the burger!! There is also a children's menu which had some lovely options. The shuttle bus service is brilliant and well worth utilising.

We stayed in a 'Cozy Room' recently and it was perfect! The service and facilities were great and the food was outstanding. We had free breakfast every morning and it was delicious. I had the beetroot dish for dinner one evening and it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. I think that we'll be back a lot over time!
