Motel One Glasgow

Ordinary hotel with standard breakfast. Poor wifi. Neat and clean rooms and friendly staff.

Classic Motel One rooms, which are usually fine, were it not for the following negative aspects: The door wasn't level, meaning it didn't close properly. Consequently, I felt unsafe at night, and of course, a lot of noise from the hallway entered the room. One of the towels was dirty (!) – an absolute no-go! And the shower trays (apparently also in my neighbors' rooms) weren't installed correctly, so you were afraid the tray would break while showering, because it creaked so loudly that you could hear my neighbor's shower creaking. The service is typical for Motel One – a friendly reception, but contact with guests is kept to a minimum. The location is comparable to the train station district in Frankfurt, which, of course, isn't the hotel's fault… the advantage during the day, however, is that you're very centrally located right next to Glasgow's main train station.

I am absolutely disgusted by how your staff treated paying guests at the weekend. To then respond to a formal complaint by contacting a guests employer when her stay was not work related in any way is a huge data protection breach! I’d advise anyone to avoid this hotel if you value your personal details!

The room is so small it almost feels like there’s no space to breathe. Check-in can be frustrating—the process is slow and often involves waiting in line. But the location is absolutely superb—right next to the station, with plenty of shops and restaurants just a few steps away. The ambiance of the hotel is lovely, and the Wi-Fi works well. However, the biggest issue is the room size. It’s unbelievably tiny. Even within this limited space, they’ve placed a large bed, a big sofa, and a two-seat table. It feels overcrowded. If the furniture had been more compact or thoughtfully designed, the room could have felt much more comfortable and breathable.

It seems the room cleaning isn't done as thoroughly without a tip. I didn't have any cash to leave a tip, and as a result, only half of the towels were changed, and a crumpled towel was hung on the bathroom floor next to a new one. It felt really unhygienic. Tipping isn't mandatory, but since the hotel is supposed to provide room cleaning, shouldn't they be doing a good job? I felt so uneasy that I set a "no cleaning" sign for the next day. With this kind of attitude, I couldn't use the towels with peace of mind. Also, the ventilation is poor, so I gave up on looking in the mirror after showering. I had to leave the bathroom door open all night just to see myself in the mirror in the morning. The hotel's location and everything else were fine. The location is absolutely fantastic. However, if you want proper room cleaning, make sure you have cash ready for a tip.

Very compact room. Sufficient facilities. Struggled to walk round bed with two large bags but managed for 1 nights. Reasonable value for city centre hotel. Very close to Central Station.

The Service (especially Dean and Team) is doing a great job! The Special One Room was fantastic. The location of the Hotel is very central.

If you can get a cheap price grab it. If you have to pay full price then shop around a little.

The location is excellent - right beside the Central train station and walking distance to so many pubs, shops and restaurants. They allow dogs (huge plus!). The beds are also super comfortable. Downside: Cleanliness in bedrooms could be improved. For the price, we'd return!
