If you want a bad welcoming in the door, a rude security treating you like a piece of trash and a manager that doesn’t react to a complex situation, this its the perfect place for you. I have a fabulous Italian food afternoon, and i wanted to go with my university friends to one of my fav LGBT bars in London (Ku Bar), but in the beginning when i was in the door and i kindly say (Hello!) this “security man” have a bad attitude from the beginning, he said: “ ID’s” “I DONT HAVE TO REPEAT ” what!??? I know i have to show my ID to enter the venue, but the way of him asking for it its not the professional way, if he hates his job just find another person, he its the security of a bar, not the security of a General Soldier to say “I DONT NEED TO REPEAT” a completely irrelevant comment , he needs to behave properly and learn basic steps of HOSPITALITY! Just to mention that he try to push me, probably he do the same with different people thinking that because its a gay place he can be violent, but not with me. Clearly a homophobic attitude, i just analyse a pattern in the security staff of this place. After this horrible interaction with this unprofessional person i went to FREEDOM BAR, Guess what??? A completely different experience: Good welcoming, Trained Professional Security Staff and a Gay Friendly experience. Avoid this kind of people and don’t feel afraid to any intimidation interaction. This place waste a regular customer that use to love the taste of their Guinness. Whatever, there’s more options in SOHO.
Lovely LGBTQ+ bar with ample seating in the heart of SOHO/central London and adjacent to the West End/Chinatown. If I am labeling the area wrong forgive me for I am a lowly tourist and know not the error of my ways. Service here is laid back and genuine with the staff seeming happy with where they work and have senses of humor. Ku Bar is a regular bar during the day which turns into a nightclub (on Fridays? and Saturdays) in the basement and remains a bar on the ground floor. Covers are not required for bar service in the evening but £10 is collected if you visit the club. I'm not sure how often the nightclub occurs since we've only been went once. Considering most places in London strongly encourage/require reservations, we were grateful that Ku Bar did not! The crowd was a fun mix of young, middle age, sprinkles of older folks, and some non-gay/lesbian groups.
Very good bar for other sex oriented people.
