The vibe is great!

Wonderful atmosphere, however it was soon spoiled by after our first bottle of wine ( which was delicious) we decided to order dinner . Peri peri chicken and fish and chips . Paid cash to the bartender and no change was forthcoming . He thought he was entitled to the change . Arrogant and disrespectful. I always tip ( and tipped the previous barmaid for the bottle of wine. ) but never have we experienced a forced tip . It was awkward feeling and left a very bitter and unsavoury taste . Completely unnecessary. Then the food arrived . The fish and chips was excellent. ( my wife had that ) I ordered the half chick chicken peri peri . The chicken was with no exaggeration might have been 2 / 3 days old . Was tough , dry and like South African biltong ( if that makes sense to some ) astonished how the chef can allow with a conscious , that to leave the kitchen . I felt it’s because we are another “tourist victim “ completely unacceptable. Overall besides the excellent fish and chips a total rip off , topped with humiliation and disappointment. Never to return .

I love this pub, from the staff to the band names etched into the bricks. It's always a favourite, the gigs, the nights. Tommy is wonderful ring master who brings it all together.
