Margate Pride

Margate Pride is a grassroots, non-profit Pride founded in 2016 and run by volunteers. It's funded by locals and grants rather than corporate sponsors. Pride Day falls on the second Saturday of August. It starts with a family programme on the Walpole Bay lawns in Cliftonville at 10:00, then a march along the seafront at 13:00 past Turner Contemporary to Dreamland, and finishes with a free show on Dreamland's Scenic Stage until 20:00.

The 2025 Pride Day was on 9 August, and local press reported thousands marching. The 10th-anniversary edition was on Saturday 8 August 2026, inside a festival programme that ran from 31 July through August, with events at Turner Contemporary and around town.

The 2027 date had not been announced at the time of writing. If the second-Saturday pattern holds it would be 14 August 2027, but check margatepride.org before booking. Hotels in the Old Town and Cliftonville fill up early for Pride weekend.
