Local Hostel Manaus

I stayed one night as part of my travel package and had a terrible experience. One receptionist promised to do my laundry, made arrangements with me, and even gave me the bucket. When I went to return it, the other one yelled at me, saying she wouldn't do it and was extremely rude. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, because seeing that the system is based on hearsay and rudeness towards travelers ruined my night. 0/10

I stayed at Local Hostel Manaus before and had a great experience. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff really make you feel at home. A special thank you to Bianca, who was incredibly helpful. She told me exactly where to go in Manaus to book an all-inclusive Amazon tour with swimming with the pink dolphins, visiting an indigenous village, seeing the floating houses, and a lunch buffet. Because of her tip I booked it directly at the pier and it was about 4 times cheaper than booking online. That advice alone made my trip so much better! Today I’m actually on that tour, and later I will come back to the hostel for day use because I have a late flight. For only R$10 you can use the common areas, Wi-Fi, bathrooms, kitchen, swimming pool and store your luggage, which is perfect if you’re waiting for a flight. The staff here genuinely care about guests and go out of their way to help you have the best experience in Manaus and the Amazon. Highly recommended! 🌴🐬

Excellent for spending a few days in Manaus. It's located in the Historic Center, very close to Largo São Sebastião, the Amazonas Theater, and the São Sebastião Church. Banks and shops are just a few meters away.

I traveled to Manaus in January 2026 and stayed at Local Hostel, one day in a shared room and 3 in a private suite. I want to start by praising the cleanliness and organization of all the spaces, everything very tidy. The staff are all very helpful, especially the owner Áurea, who is responsible for breakfast, very friendly (she saw that I was trying the regional fruits and immediately approached to teach me how to eat each one, with great willingness). The hostel's location is excellent, on the street below Largo de São Sebastião, you can walk to several tourist attractions. I really enjoyed the experience and I recommend it, on my next visit to Manaus I already have my accommodation chosen!

Great location and super helpful and friendly staff, the friendliest we encountered during our four weeks in Brazil. They always had fun little games with the chance to win free drinks. The room was a bit dated, the sheet was too small for the bed, and a little more maintenance would be great, but it was fine for two nights.

The cat is beautiful. The team is wonderful and really friendly there.

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I had a wonderful stay. Excellent service, organization, cleanliness, especially the bathrooms – impeccable. The location is perfect; the street is a bit rough at first, but it's very close to the main roads in the city center. I did everything on my own, walked around at night, and it was a lot of work. You have to be careful everywhere, especially in tourist areas and city centers.

If you’re staying in Manaus, you have to consider this place. It’s adorable in that effortlessly charming way that makes you immediately feel at home. The location is unreal—there’s a burger place across the street that might just break your heart a little when you realize you can’t take it home with you. It’s that good. Breakfast was totally fine, but I skipped it in favour of exploring. The common area, though, was a gem… warm, cozy, and the kind of spot where you could easily lose an hour just chilling. The staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely helpful—one of those teams that make the whole stay feel smoother. And the neighborhood? Amazing. Everything you could possibly need is just a short walk away, from food to shops to little surprises around every corner.

Visited in November 2025 I visited this hostel in person and stayed in the dormitory. It cost 80 reais per night. Pros - The building was spacious and clean. The dormitory room was also clean. - Each bed had a curtain, light, power outlet, and locker. - I could hand-wash my clothes in the laundry room in the back. - Shampoo and body soap were provided in the shower room. - The two female staff members were kind. Cons - One male staff member was rude. - I tried to extend my stay just before checkout, but I didn't have any cash on me. I asked if I could pay later, but they said no. I felt the service was poor. - When I checked in, I was only told the breakfast time, and I thought it was included in the price, but I was told it was a separate charge after I'd eaten. If they're so strict about prepayment for accommodation, shouldn't they also require prepayment for breakfast? It felt like a sneak attack.

Excellent hostel. It was well worth it. I recommend it 👍
