Michaela and Karamilk absolute QUEENS hosted Drag brunch today!! Was my first and it was outstanding. They are so entertaining and we had so much fun!! Will come again!!
Overpriced. I suggest you check the menu carefully and the price. Check that what you ordered is correct and the price indicated matches you bill. Beer and wine are super expensive.
My friend and I have been going to O'Grady's maybe every 3 or 4 weeks for awhile now. Whenever we both have time off and can meet, we do. We love to support a local business. Though we have eaten here a few times and it was delicious, we're both on a bit of a tight budget at the moment, so we've been enjoying the Monday to Friday Happy Hour until 7 pm. They have 3 beers on tap for $6. It's only a 14-ounce glass (2 ounces smaller than an American pint) but still we've enjoyed it as the staff are super friendly and genuine, the music they play is great, and we go early enough that it's not busy. And we can hear ourselves talk when it's not busy. Last week our schedules aligned so last minute on Good Friday we decided to meet at our favorite spot. Got there around 5 and we had 2 drinks each so expected a bill for $12 each plus tax and tip. Imagine our shock when we each get a bill for $20 plus tax! I queried the waitress since I thought she must be new and marked it down wrong. Instead, we were told that Happy Hour is not in effect on any holidays! They would not adjust the bill so we paid and left but not very happy. Nowhere on the sandwich board advertising Happy Hour does it say prices are not applicable on holidays. We were told by someone out front that it's apparently listed on their website but how would we know we'd need to go to their website to check the price when we've had the same pricing probably a dozen times?? Very not cool and unfortunately very memorable but not in a good way.
Saturday drag brunch was absolutely wonderful! Check it out! Fabulous food, service, and entertainment in a fun and intimate atmosphere. King and Just Peachy were amazing!! They lit up the 90’s energy until it was time to slay some Broadway! We just loved singing along, dancing, and watching them both play off the crowd. It was awesome! Our waiter was a doll and kept us well taken care of! Also, I have to say, best cheesecake I’ve ever had. We highly recommend this experience! Thank you for being a best memory from our first trip to Toronto!
It’s like two ugly ladies took control of the jute box and won’t let you play your song…
Mother Russian was the best drag queen, made the place soooo fun and we danced with her at the front. Good vibes all around!!!
A shout out for a long standing fixture of the Church St scene - we ate here twice - think pub comfort food - the cocktails did vary in quality - though service was friendly and portions large - prices reasonable. This is a great outdoor spot to survey the eclectic street life of the area.
Tried to go here on Christmas day as it was one of the few places open in the downtown area. I had stopped going here a while ago as the mediocre food is overpriced and there are better places in the area. But we thought we would try it for a Christmas brunch in what is a neighbourhood fixture where we used to go back in the day, when it was still appealing. A drag queen was performing as we walked in (great, we love drag) but the music they were playing was at an obnoxiously loud, ear-shattering level for early afternoon on Christmas day. We couldn't believe it. We tried to find a table at the back to perhaps be away from the speakers, but it was just as loud back there. We felt trapped as we had not seen anyplace else on Church open. But my friend, who actually likes lively music and regularly goes to Latin night at another bar on Saturdays, said it would be impossible for us to have any conversation. I literally had to talk directly into the ear of a server to say anything. When I asked if the music was going to be this loud all afternoon, she just said "yes" with not a word of apology or even an offer to turn it down even slightly. I was not asking for the music to be turned off, but simply turned down to a bearable level. This kind of contempt for customers is what drove me away in the first place, and was a reminder never to go back. Who on Christmas day wants to listen to ear shattering music in the middle of the afternoon, the kind that literally makes your ears ring? Happily, we found Fran's diner a few blocks away open, and was bustling with customers, and no deafening music. We were able to enjoy a nice brunch and actually have a conversation, as we could not do at O'Grady's. Don't need that kind of attitude on Christmas day.
The patio is an enjoyable place to enjoy an afternoon drink. The waiters are attentive and friendly. The tables are rather sticky and I would not touch the flagstone floor. I saw a drink spilled and no effort made to mop the flagstones. Do not order the food or you will most definitely regret it later. I did!
The food was overpriced and I saw mice running all over the patio! Made me feel gross while I was eating.
