L'Hôtel Littéraire

The Literary Hotel exceeded our expectations. Clean, “new” and bright but tons of character and adjacent to many dining options and places to walk around Solon. Very quiet, too. A nice retreat from the bustle of Iowa City. We are definitely going to stay here again.

The Literary is an Eastern Iowa treasure! We loved the charm of time-worn brick combined with the convenience and beauty of new remodeling. Al’s warm hospitality made our stay all the better. We’ll be back!

Our family had 2 rooms and NO room cleaning, fresh towels, or coffee replenished in 3 days.

The Literary Hotel is a unique boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Solon, Iowa. It is a refurbished building that at one time was an auditorium originally established as Mary’s Catholic Auditorium and Literary Club. The owners have done a wonderful job in refurbishing it and bringing it back to life as a hotel, with luxury touches throughout, but comfortable enough for a family hotel and also pet friendly!

This hotel was very well put together and the owner was very nice and went out of his way to make sure our stay was great. It was super close to everything so we could easily walk to dinner and what not. Really loved the whole experience!

Beautiful hotel with amazing service. Blocks away from great restaurants. 2 wonderful shops in the hotel as well.

The Literary Hotel is a hidden gem! Down to the details, this restored space is a special place! Al and his team feel like old friends! Spend the night, or a weekend and get to know Solon Iowa!
