The Gwen

After years of staying somewhere else in Chicago, we decided to try somewhere new and are so glad we did! The Gwen truly exceeded our expectations. I thought I would miss staying somewhere with a river view, but the service here made me forget it all. From check-in to check-out, the stay was 5 star. Russell was fantastic--the room wasn't ready (we arrived early), so he gave us some drink vouchers to enjoy at the rooftop. We ordered some apps and drinks and they were FANTASTIC. The bread appetizer with the different butters/dips--so so good. Davin ( i am not sure if I spelled this correctly, my apologies!) was our server a couple of times here and just so great. The room was huge and the AC was COLD, a biggie for us. The only drawbacks were no USBs bedside on one side (nor a plug in accessible, so I had to charge my phone across the room at night.) Also would have loved to have had a Nespresso machine, but because we booked thru our travel advisor, we received daily breakfast delivered in-room and let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC. Nabil rolled in a table with linens and a breakfast with french press coffee every morning and we felt like royalty. He told us the first morning that his goal was to treat us like family. And he did just that. The location was fantastic--you are literally connected to Nordstrom via an elevator. Michigan Avenue is right outside the door. And a champagne vending machine? Yes, please. Staff and management of the Gwen, you exceeded our every expectation and we look forward to coming back!

Located on the Navy Pier Chicago. Expensive, rooms, food, and drinks. Asian manager of the top deck was kind of unfriendly wanting our group to move outside on the deck out of the dining area, when they were not busy at all. We felt unwelcome. That's fine, we will not come back.

Almost all of our guests (including us!) stayed at the Gwen. The rooms were spotless, and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. The bridal suite was perfect for getting ready with the girls, and was easy for vendors to find. We also hosted a morning after brunch in the Private Affairs space, which tasted great and was the best send off for our friends and family (although a few non-wedding guests did come in for breakfast as well!). Audrey was so communicative the entire process and made this part of wedding experience so stress-free!

It is good that there are also our people who are employed, so it is not a problem to come to an agreement

The Gwen is a beautiful hotel with great spacious room and very modern decor. The proximity to the shops was exceptional. Rodger at the front desk provided amazing service for my family. He was super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back
