Hôtel The Varden

I was looking for a place to live while I get my life together and I found a place at the Varden Hotel. I'm a day in day outer and this is exactly what I need to get better. Shout out to Char and Valerie on the easy transition. Thank you.

Nobody ever answers the phone.. how are you going to make business when you're not even available when needed 🤦‍♂️

My partner and I tried to reserve a room here and had an unacceptable experience. We made online reservation 2 months in advance of our desired arrival. A month later, our application was still blowing in the wind.   When I reached out to check on the status, Larry was annoyed and tried to rush me off the phone. Weeks before our requested reservation date, the manager, Larry, would not pick up the phone  or respond to emails to provide a status update. Even after complying and submitting all requested documentation, both my calls and my partners calls would go unanswered. Believing I was being intentionally ignored, I had a friend call. Not to my surprise, Larry answered her call and told her there were available units! When I called immediately after, he would not answer. I literally had to call from my friend's phone just to get this person to flatly and incorrectly critique my application while also reiterating that "we get hundreds of other applications." I was really excited to stay here but I was mistaken and treated poorly. So sadly, after over a month of unprofessionalism I would NEVER recommend The Varden Hotel to anyone.

It’s cute little place right in the downtown of Longbeach. They mostly do long term stays and have a private parking space. Rooms all small in size but big in space for a single person. It’s very thoughtfully designed. Please note there is no elevator.

Cozy 1920s hotel in the heart of Long Beach. Walking distance to the Aquarium. Very quiet and clean.

Small but comfortable, excellent service from very attentive and friendly staff

The Varden is a lovely little hotel. The rooms are small, but clean with modern fixtures. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast as well as nightly wine tastings. The staff were friendly and helpful during the check-in and check-out process.

Spent almost $200 in one night at a hotel. It was my bday celebration. Came over with my boyfriend. He’s a little thuggish looking I might add. It’s probably why the receptionist called me to tell me I shouldn’t be smoking. That the smoke was coming from under the door. I told her I wasn’t smoking and I really wasn’t. All I wanted was a little getaway for us but I felt very unwelcome. Not to mention our tv remote wasn’t working very well. We didn’t have the luxury of being able to watch tv the next morning. The extra pillows I requested during my booking weren’t there either. Only good thing about this experience would be location. It was walking distance from restaurants. They just gotta work on their customer service.
