This historic property, dating back to 1929, offers a welcoming base in the heart of downtown with convenient access to major attractions like the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center (just a half-mile away) and the Aquarium of the Pacific (about a mile away). It's an excellent choice for visitors looking for affordable, no-frills accommodations without sacrificing comfort or location. I really enjoyed my stay at The Varden Hotel. You honestly can’t beat the price for the location — it’s in a great area of downtown Long Beach with a lot nearby and easy access to everything. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and had a nice boutique feel. The rooms are definitely very small for two people, and the walls are thin so you can hear a lot around you, but honestly it didn’t ruin the experience for me. Overall I liked it a lot and would stay again, especially for the price and location.

Wifi is useless plus its hard to get good service in here. Weird smell in lobby/entrance, and sometimes the entrance code makes you put it in twice just because. Rooms were tiny which i was aware before booming but i was honestly shocked at just how small they were, barely enough room to sit down in bathroom

Very much enjoyed my stay. The rooms are cozy but clean and comfortable. The area is a little iffy after dark but that's not on them.

Not big rooms, clean, but old, lots of history and character. Staff is great, breakfast is good, and everything you could ask for within walking distance. I'd definitely stay here again!
