Hôtel Beacon

I would not recommend you book this hotel. It is under reservation and right now it isn't in good condition. 1. It is hard to find out how to get in. 2. The restaurant is closed, do no food at all. 3. The TV service is bad. 1st room had no channels, 2nd room had limited seemed more like antena and not cable or satellite. 4. The main elevators are out of service so you have to use the service elevator. 5. They are still working on the bathroom that we were given I guess as the wall had tape on the vent. This hotel is not worth the money they are charging. At least not yet. Maybe once they finish all of the renovation it will be.

Our nicely appointed suite was very livable and offered what they accurately described as a "sweeping, panoramic view of downtown Washington, D.C." (Similar to the photos included here). What they did not describe was the temporary hotel entry through their restaurant and the ground floor remodeling that required it. The entry was a mess but once at the room the 'good price' and quality of the recently remodeled suite made it a very nice if slightly challenging choice!

I was there during renovations. The floor I am on still smells of fresh paint, if you suffer of headaches and migraines not ideal. The noise also makes it hard to work from hotel. No option for breakfast or to eat anything at the hotel which wasn't mentioned at the time of booking. One of the biggest shockers was when I informed them that my room had no hot water, their solution was " you need to let it run for at least 10min"!!! I will say housekeeping is great, when I had do not disturbed on during the morning and early afternoon they came and cleaned when I went for a walk. Room doesn't have mini fridge so you can't buy anything from outside and keep it cool (water, sodas, snacks ect). Location really is great, but I probably wouldn't book here again.

Here is my experience staying at this hotel last night. I checked in around 9 p.m., got my key card, and went up to my room. The key didn't work. I went back down and asked for a new key. I got the new key. I went back up. The key didn't work. I went back down. I repeated this twice more. The front desk sent a maintenance guy to sort it out. He got the key to work. I got in the room. But then the mechanism locked me in and I couldn't get back out. I tried to call the front desk. The phone didn't work. I texted my friend on another floor, who called down to the front desk. They sent the guy back. He took apart the lock mechanism but couldn't fix it. He said, "Ok, I'll be right back" and shut the door, locking me in again. 20 minutes went by. He didn't return. I used my cell to call the corporate number and asked if I could just be moved to a different room because it was past 10 now and I was tired. They moved me to a new room. I went to bed. In the morning, they started construction on a room nearby at 6 a.m. Then, the coffee machine didn't work. Meanwhile, the room they put me in was the ADA-compliant room. I couldn't help but notice that some key things were placed on upper shelves that would be difficult for someone using a wheelchair to reach! Anyway, this is the second time I've stayed at this place. The first time I found and slayed three roaches. So I feel I've done due diligence on this place and will never stay there again. The best part about this place is the workers, who were responsive and professional and did their best to sort things out all while appearing to be very short staffed. All of my complaints are the fault of management.

To say I was disappointed with my recent stay at the Beacon Hotel would be a total disservice to my experience. The customer service was one of the worst I've dealt with, the lack of transparency with the construction taking place (beginning at 7AM), and the water being turned off from 10AM - 3PM (without being notified prior) left me and my family checking out early. Ice machines were not available, the bathroom door in the room wouldn't shut which made traveling with my toddler difficult, and my car being parked in the middle of a construction site after paying for valet was unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel if you have to put down 1 penny of your money. The entire staff should honestly take a customer service class from the gentleman handling valet as they were the only ones who were of any help. The location was great but that is the only reason I am leaving 1 star.

We are here now. We would not have booked if we knew it was under construction. No ice machines on any of the floors and the restaurant/ bar is not available. But the location is very good, and the staff is nice.

BEWARE BEFORE BOOKING. Had I known the true condition of this hotel, I would have stayed elsewhere. I was in town for work and the conditions were so horrific, I changed my hotel. The hotel does not adequately disclose the extent of the ongoing renovations before booking. Large portions of the property are under construction, including Floors 1–6 and the penthouse level. As a result, many of the amenities guests expect are unavailable or severely impacted. During my stay, there was no functional gym, no restaurant service, limited parking options, and even recurring water outages. The construction begins early in the morning, with workers making significant noise starting around 8:00 AM, making it nearly impossible to sleep in or enjoy a restful stay. The elevator situation is even worse. Most elevators were unavailable, leaving guests dependent on the service elevator, which was also being used by construction crews. It was often dirty, overcrowded, and could take more than 10 minutes just to get to your floor. Unfortunately, my experience escalated beyond inconvenience. I became trapped in an elevator with four other guests for over 40 minutes. The situation was serious enough that the fire department had to be called to rescue us. During the rescue, power was shut off to portions of the hotel, including guest rooms. Being trapped in an elevator is frightening, and guests should expect compassion and professionalism afterward. Instead, I was met with indifference and poor customer service. Monte was rude and dismissive when I requested information regarding the incident, documentation, my receipt, and the refund process. After checking out, I called two days later to follow up on my refund and Karen was equally unprofessional. She ultimately hung up on me while I was trying to get answers. Hotels can experience maintenance issues. Renovations happen. Elevators can break. What is unacceptable is failing to properly disclose major disruptions, charging guests full price for a property that cannot provide its advertised amenities, and then treating guests poorly after a serious safety incident. If you're considering staying here, understand that you may be paying premium Washington, D.C. rates for a hotel that is effectively a construction site. Between the noise, water outages, unavailable amenities, elevator issues, and lack of customer service, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I cannot recommend this property to anyone.

Place is under construction and no warning..no signs to the temp check in desk..which is in the restaurant. Corridors smell of weed. Tvs aren't smart TVs and only have cable. Room AC doesn't kick in til you put room card in which isn't great when you arrive at 1pm in a DC summer ...

BEWARE. When you book, they don't inform you that the hotel is under renovation. It doesn't offer the services you booked, such as a gym, restaurant, or parking. There are also daily water outages. The construction workers start making noise at 8:00 AM, making it impossible to rest. The elevators are unusable; the only one that works is the service elevator, which is used by the construction workers and is dirty, taking more than 10 minutes to get up.
