Last verified: November 2026. Bangalore has no gay hotel. We could not verify a single gay-owned guesthouse, men-only stay or clothing-optional property anywhere in the city in 2026. The one hostel on our list in the bar district, The Hosteller on Brigade Road, closed this year. Instead, the city has one fixed queer address, Kitty Ko, the nightclub inside The LaLiT Ashok in Seshadripuram, with its Thursday drag night. It also has a roving party brand, Dude Party, which turns up in a different hotel bar or club most weekends, often far east of the centre. So the real question is which mainstream hotel puts you closest to the night you are going out for, with the least fuss for two men at the front desk. This guide covers the walking times between Kitty Ko and the MG Road bars, the GST bands that set your room tax, ID and visitor rules, Namma Pride on 29 November 2026, getting home at 3 am, and staying safe on the apps.
Pick by trip style
| Stay style | Hotels | Walk to Kitty Ko (Seshadripuram) | Walk to Church Street / MG Road bars | Who it suits and the watch-out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| On top of the drag night | The LaLiT Ashok Bengaluru | 1 min (it is downstairs) | 50–55 min; taxi | Anyone whose trip is built around Thursday at Kitty Ko. The owners are the most openly pro-LGBTQ+ hotel group in India. Watch-out: nothing else walkable at night. |
| Gay-owned or men-only | None verified in 2026 | n/a | n/a | Private rooms on gay host platforms exist, mostly in Indiranagar. Check the host and the address before you pay. |
| Business hotel in walking range | Radisson Blu Hotel, Atria Bengaluru | 22–25 min | 36–40 min | Pool and a big-chain front desk, between the two anchors. Watch-out: the walk home crosses wide, empty government roads; take an auto after midnight. |
| MG Road base | THE Park Bangalore | About 75 min; taxi | 22–25 min | Design hotel with its own bars, at the Trinity end of MG Road, near the metro. Watch-out: a taxi to Kitty Ko every Thursday. |
| Central and fairly quiet, near the community | Woodlands Hotel | About 55 min; taxi | 26–30 min | 4–6 min from the Swabhava office where Good As You meets, and close to where the 2025 Pride walk started. Watch-out: dated rooms. |
| Budget near the stations | The Rialto Hotel, Narthaki Boutique Hotel | 24–27 min (Rialto), 28–32 min (Narthaki) | 50–55 min; taxi | Train and bus arrivals, tight budgets, Kitty Ko within a long walk. Watch-out: Majestic is chaotic by day and seedy in patches after midnight. |
| Market budget | B Six Hotel | 50–55 min; taxi | 55–60 min; taxi | Cheap, well reviewed, close to the YRG CARE clinic at Victoria Hospital. Watch-out: KR Market traffic and noise from before dawn. |
Where to sleep, in real minutes
Forget the idea of a gay street. Bangalore has two anchors, 3.3 km apart in a straight line, which means 50 minutes or more on foot. The first is Kumara Krupa Road in Seshadripuram, beside the Bangalore Golf Club, where Kitty Ko sits inside The LaLiT Ashok. The second is the old bar grid of the Central Business District: MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street and Residency Road. That is where the city's mainstream pubs are and where a mixed, younger, fairly relaxed crowd drinks. Indiranagar (100 Feet Road and 12th Main) and Koramangala to the south-east form a third zone. Many of the queer-friendly bars and a good share of Dude Party nights end up there, but it is a 20 to 40 minute taxi from either anchor depending on traffic.
Most licensed venues inside city limits may stay open until 1 am, and many standalone pubs still wind down between 11.30 pm and midnight. Kitty Ko's Thursday listings have run as late as 3 am. Choose your bed for the night you care about most, and accept a taxi for everything else. Bangalore is flat by Indian hill-city standards, but pavements are broken, crossings are few and the main roads are not built for walking. Every walking time below assumes you are happy to walk. After midnight, we would take an auto or app cab instead.

Seshadripuram and High Grounds: the LaLiT
The LaLiT Ashok is 24 m from the Kitty Ko door by our listings, so 1 minute by lift. It is a large five-star with a pool, set in landscaped grounds on Kumara Krupa Road, about 3 km north of MG Road. The surrounding streets are leafy, institutional and quiet at night. That is good for sleep and bad for a second venue: there is nowhere else to walk to at 1 am. At 3 am you are already in bed, which is the whole point. It is also on the airport side of the centre, which helps with early flights. Reviews average 4.3 from almost 27,000 ratings.
Palace Road: between the two anchors
Radisson Blu Atria at 1 Palace Road is 1,410 m from Kitty Ko (22–25 minutes on foot) and about 36–40 minutes from Church Street. It is a corporate hotel near Vidhana Soudha and Cubbon Park, with a pool and several restaurants, rated 4.4 from about 13,000 reviews. The walk to Kitty Ko is pleasant at 9 pm and pointless at 2 am, when the government quarter is empty and the roads are wide and fast. Take an auto back; it is a short ride.

Gandhi Nagar and Majestic: budget by the stations
Gandhi Nagar is the commercial block around Kempegowda (Majestic) bus station, the main metro interchange and KSR Bengaluru City railway station. The Rialto Hotel on Seshadri Road is 1,497 m from Kitty Ko (24–27 min), and Narthaki Boutique Hotel on 6th Main is 1,766 m (28–32 min). Both are well rated (4.2 and 4.6). The walk north to Seshadripuram is fine before midnight. Coming back at 3 am, the lanes around the bus station are busy with long-distance coaches, touts and people sleeping out. Nothing dramatic, but not where you want to be checking a map on your phone, so get a cab to the door. Church Street is 50–55 minutes away, so take a taxi there too.
KR Market and Kalasipalya
B Six Hotel on Kalasipalya Main Road is cheap and scores 4.6 from about 400 reviews. But it is 3,334 m from Kitty Ko (50–55 min) and even further from the MG Road bars. KR Market's wholesale trade starts before dawn and the bus traffic never quite stops. Its one real advantage for gay travellers is that it is a few minutes from Victoria Hospital, where the YRG CARE MSM centre offers testing and PEP (see below). Take taxis everywhere at night.

Sampangi Rama Nagar: the community end
Woodlands Hotel on Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road is the old-school mid-range choice. It is known locally for its South Indian vegetarian restaurant and rated 3.8 from 5,500 reviews, so expect tired rooms. It is 4–6 minutes from the Swabhava Trust office, where Good As You holds its meetings, and 26–30 minutes from Church Street. It is also a short walk from Sree Kanteerava Stadium, where the 2025 Pride walk started. Kitty Ko is 3,379 m away (about 55 min), so take a taxi on Thursdays. The streets here are residential and quiet after 11 pm.
MG Road east: THE Park
THE Park Bangalore is the only hotel on our list within a reasonable walk of the mainstream bar grid: 22–25 minutes along MG Road to Church Street. It is close to Trinity and MG Road metro stations and has its own bars and a pool (4.2 from about 11,000 reviews). MG Road and Brigade Road are busy until closing, then empty fast; the stretch under the metro viaduct is lit. Kitty Ko is 4,541 m away, 15 to 25 minutes by cab.

Indiranagar, Koramangala and the Outer Ring Road
Our listings currently have no hotel in Indiranagar or Koramangala; the boutique hotel we used to list on 12th A Main has been dropped. If your trip is built around Dude Party rather than Kitty Ko, look east. In October 2026 Dude Party held nights at three venues:
- Finn The Luxury Club in Koramangala
- Liquid Bar
- Aloft Bengaluru Outer Ring Road in Bellandur: ECHO on the 2nd floor on 24 October, then Halloween on 31 October
That Aloft is a mainstream Marriott-brand hotel and not in our listings, but if you book it for a party night your bed is a lift ride away. Indiranagar's 100 Feet Road has the widest choice of mainstream mid-range hotels and serviced flats within walking distance of bars. That includes Indiranagar Social, which runs queer-friendly events. The Dude Party venue changes, so check each weekend's on its own channels before you book.
Gay-owned, men-only and clothing-optional
None, as of November 2026. We found no gay-owned hotel, no men-only guesthouse and no clothing-optional property in Bangalore, and we could not verify a gay sauna either. Anyone offering a "men-only stay" in the city is a private host renting a room in his flat. That can be lovely or it can be a set-up, so check the profile, the reviews and the exact address, and meet in public first.
The closest thing to a gay-run hotel is The LaLiT Ashok. It is not gay-owned in any simple sense, since it belongs to The LaLiT group, a large family-run Indian hotel company. But the group's executive director, Keshav Suri, is openly gay, and the company has made LGBTQ+ hiring and visibility part of its brand for years. In practice that means a front desk that will not blink at two men in a double, and the city's only regular queer club night downstairs. For everyone else it is a mainstream five-star. Non-guests reach Kitty Ko through the hotel, and the club sets entry and cover on the night.
Who left: The Hosteller on Brigade Road closed in 2026. By October 2026 Google showed it as permanently closed and the chain had removed it from its Bangalore list. It was never a gay hostel, but it was the cheapest bed within a short walk of Brigade Road and Church Street, and nothing on our list replaces it at that price.
Where gay guests actually stay: the big chains around MG Road, Richmond Road and Vittal Mallya Road (Taj, ITC, Oberoi, JW Marriott and similar), the LaLiT, and mid-range chain hotels in Indiranagar. Of these, only the LaLiT has a real queer connection rather than an assumed one.

Booking rules that bite
GST is your hotel tax
We found no separate city tourist tax in Bangalore. The tax on your room is GST, charged per room per night. Since 22 September 2025, a room priced at ₹7,500 a night or less carries 5% GST, and a room above ₹7,500 carries 18%. Budget and most mid-range rooms in Gandhi Nagar and Sampangi Rama Nagar are under the line. Five-stars are usually over it, so expect an extra 13 percentage points at checkout. Check whether the price on a booking site includes tax, because Indian hotel sites often quote before tax. Food and drink are taxed separately.

ID for every adult, and Form C for foreigners
Every adult staying in the room will be asked for photo ID at check-in. Foreign guests hand over a passport and visa page, and the hotel files a Form C with the immigration authorities within 24 hours. This is routine and not about you. Indian guests show an Aadhaar card, driving licence or passport. Some budget hotels refuse guests whose ID shows a local Bangalore address. The rule is aimed at couples, but it sometimes catches a gay pair where one partner lives in the city, so ask before you book if that applies to you.
Visitors and the golden tip
Two men sharing a double is legal and rarely questioned; most staff will assume you are friends or colleagues. Bringing someone back is where it gets awkward. Five-stars usually let a visitor up only after he leaves ID at the desk, and may charge him as an extra guest if he stays the night. Smaller hotels can refuse visitors outright after about 10 pm. If you are travelling as a pair, book the room for 2 guests from the start. Then you are both registered and nobody has to explain anything at midnight. If you are meeting someone new, the ID rule works in your favour (see the app-safety section).

Deposits and cancellation
Five-stars put a hold on your card at check-in. Some budget hotels ask for a cash deposit or full payment up front; get a receipt. Non-refundable booking-site rates are common and really are non-refundable. Pride weekend does not push up prices across the city the way a big Western Pride does. Central hotels are under more pressure from weekday conference business, so weekend rates at the business hotels can be lower than on a Tuesday.
The gay calendar and where to book for it
Namma Pride: Sunday 29 November 2026
Namma Pride ("our Pride" in Kannada) is the main march. This year's walk is on Sunday 29 November 2026, after a month of talks, karaoke, drag nights and fundraisers. The sources we checked did not give the route or start time. In 2025 the walk was on 7 December, from Sree Kanteerava Stadium to Town Hall, with a pre-Pride fundraiser party the night before. If the 2026 route is similar, stay central. Woodlands is a short walk from the stadium, and Radisson Blu Atria and THE Park are close too. Rooms do not sell out for Pride, so booking 2 to 4 weeks ahead is enough. Check Namma Pride's own channels for the route the week before.
The June march: Karnataka Swabhimana Habba
Since 2025 Bengaluru has had a second Pride. After a split with the Namma Pride organisers, a breakaway coalition called CSGMR started a June march. Its 2026 march, Karnataka Swabhimana Habba, was scheduled for Sunday 21 June. The June 2027 date had not been announced as of November 2026. It is a community march, not a party weekend, and does not affect hotel availability.
Bangalore Queer Film Festival
The Bangalore Queer Film Festival is free and run by volunteers. The last edition we could verify was 23 to 25 August 2024 at Medai The Stage in Koramangala. Dates for the next edition are TBA. If it goes back to Koramangala, stay in Koramangala or Indiranagar rather than the centre.
Every week
Pure Love Thursday at Kitty Ko is the one fixed queer night. It ran through 2025 and into 2026, with drag headliners and themed specials such as a Valentine edition in February 2026. Dude Party runs on most Saturdays and on festival dates. In autumn 2026 it held a Dussehra night on 17 October and a Halloween party, Forbidden Mansion, at Aloft Bengaluru on 31 October, with tickets at about ₹599 to ₹999 (US$7 to US$11). For a Thursday, book the LaLiT. For a Saturday, wait until you know the venue before you book.
Getting back at 3 am
From the airport
Kempegowda International Airport is at Devanahalli, well north of the city. The metro line to the terminal is still under construction. The cheapest reliable option is the BMTC Vayu Vajra air-conditioned bus. Route KIA-9 runs to Kempegowda bus station (Majestic) for ₹290 (about US$3.50) including tolls and takes roughly 55 to 65 minutes at night. Other KIA routes run direct to Whitefield, Electronic City, HSR Layout and Sarjapur Road, with fares from about ₹150 to ₹380. An app cab from the airport to MG Road or Seshadripuram costs about ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 (US$11 to US$17), depending on surge pricing; check the fare in the app. It takes about 45 minutes at night and well over an hour in the evening rush. The LaLiT, Radisson Blu Atria and Gandhi Nagar are on the airport side of town, which saves 15 to 20 minutes in the rush compared with Indiranagar or Koramangala.
From the bars
Namma Metro's last trains leave around 11 pm (check the day's timetable), before almost anything closes. After that it is app cabs and autos. Uber and Ola both work well in central Bangalore. Namma Yatri is the local app for autos and usually the cheapest. Autos charge extra at night, so use the app or agree the fare before you get in. At Kitty Ko, book the cab from inside the lobby and let the hotel's doorman see you get in. At closing time on Church Street and Brigade Road, drivers crowd the kerb. Walk a block to a quieter pick-up point and use the app.
Walking at night
MG Road, Brigade Road and Church Street are busy until closing and generally fine. Cubbon Park and the roads around Vidhana Soudha are dark and empty after midnight; do not cut through. Late at night, pickpocketing and hassle are concentrated around Majestic and KR Market. Kumara Krupa Road outside the LaLiT is quiet and leafy, with few people on foot. Indiranagar's 100 Feet Road stays busy late, but the side streets empty quickly.
Health, safety and the law
Clinics, PEP and PrEP
The YRG CARE MSM centre at Victoria Hospital, near KR Market, offers HIV and STI testing, PEP and PrEP. It is on Good As You's list of queer-friendly clinics, last checked in 2025. That list also includes private doctors known to the community who prescribe PrEP and PEP, some by video call. PEP has to start within 72 hours, and sooner is better. At the weekend, go to the casualty department of a large private hospital and ask for PEP by name. The Swabhava Trust on 4th Main, Sampangi Rama Nagar, can refer you for health and legal help. Good As You holds peer support meetings on Thursdays. Trans visitors can contact Ondede or Solidarity Foundation.
The app rule
This is the risk that matters most. Gangs in Indian cities use Grindr and similar apps to lure men to isolated addresses, then rob, beat or blackmail them, sometimes posing as police. In Bangalore, a 29-year-old was assaulted and robbed after an app meeting in November 2023, in a case registered at Adugodi police station. In spring 2026, a civil engineer was reported stabbed and robbed after being lured through Grindr. Police broke up similar gangs in Kerala in August 2025 and in Mathura in July 2026. The rule: meet first in a busy public place, bring him to your hotel rather than going to an address he sends you, and never get into a car with his "friends". A hotel lobby that takes ID is your best protection, because a robber will not want his name on record. If someone claiming to be police demands money over a hook-up, do not pay. Ask which police station he is from and call 112.
The law
Consensual sex between adult men has been legal since the Supreme Court's Navtej Singh Johar ruling in September 2018. Same-sex partnerships and marriages are not legally recognised, and same-sex couples cannot adopt. Two men sharing a hotel room is legal. Public affection is legal but draws stares outside the bar districts, and public-obscenity laws are used against cruising, so there is no cruising scene to recommend. Drug law is harsh. The NDPS Act covers cannabis as well as party drugs, and Bangalore police raid parties and arrest guests, not only dealers. Chemsex in a hotel room can end with the police, a heavy fine and a criminal case, plus a deep-cleaning charge from the hotel. Smoking is banned in public places and in most hotel rooms, and Karnataka banned hookah bars in 2024.
Three picks
Budget: Narthaki Boutique Hotel
Narthaki is rated 4.6 and is a few minutes from the metro interchange, the railway station and the airport bus at Majestic. You can walk to Kitty Ko in 28–32 minutes; take a taxi back.
Mid-range: Radisson Blu Hotel, Atria Bengaluru
Radisson Blu Atria sits between the two anchors: 22–25 minutes on foot to Kitty Ko and a short cab to Church Street. It has a chain front desk that does not care who you share with, and a pool for the afternoon. Watch the GST band, because some nights the room costs more than ₹7,500.
Splurge: The LaLiT Ashok Bengaluru
The LaLiT Ashok is the only hotel in the city whose queer connection is the owners' choice rather than a booking-site badge. It is also the only one with the Thursday drag night downstairs. Book Thursday into Friday and take the lift home.
Frequently asked
Is there a gay hotel in Bangalore?
No. As of November 2026 we could not verify any gay-owned, men-only or clothing-optional hotel or guesthouse in Bangalore. The nearest equivalent is The LaLiT Ashok, whose group is openly pro-LGBTQ+ and which hosts Kitty Ko.
Which hotel is closest to Kitty Ko?
The LaLiT Ashok, because Kitty Ko is inside it. The next closest on our list is Radisson Blu Atria on Palace Road, a 22–25 minute walk.
Which hotel is closest to the MG Road and Church Street bars?
THE Park Bangalore on MG Road, about 22–25 minutes on foot to Church Street. Woodlands in Sampangi Rama Nagar is 26–30 minutes.
Can I bring a guest back to my hotel?
Usually yes at larger hotels, but he will have to leave ID at reception and may be charged as an extra guest if he stays. Smaller hotels can refuse late visitors. If you are travelling as a couple, book for 2 guests.
How much is hotel tax in Bangalore?
Rooms at ₹7,500 a night or less carry 5% GST; rooms above that carry 18%. We found no separate city tourist tax.
