Best Cruising Areas in Curitiba

Curitiba does its flirting indoors. This is Brazil's coldest state capital, a city of Araucaria pines, glass-tube bus stops and a damp fog that settles over the old centre on winter evenings, and the curitibanos are famously reserved on the street. Step out of the drizzle into a steam room, though, and the temperature changes in every sense. There's no big Berlin-style cruise club here. The action happens in a busy sauna with a dark room in Alto da XV, a couple of discreet bar-saunas, and a handful of small glory-hole and cabin venues around Centro that open, rename and vanish. Here's what we could confirm for 2026, and what to check before you go.

Legal in one line: sex between men is legal in Brazil, same-sex marriage has been recognised since 2013, and homophobia has been punishable as a crime of racism since 2019. Sex in a public place is not: ato obsceno (Article 233 of the Penal Code) carries three months to a year in detention or a fine.

Saunas: where most of the cruising happens

Domo 520 · Av. Senador Souza Naves 520, Alto da XV

Open since 1992 and still the busiest: wet and dry saunas, a heated hydro pool, a bar, a long corridor ending in a dark room, and private rooms with a bed at no extra charge. It's open daily 15:00–23:00, with occasional parties running later, and the crowd is the most mixed in town, with plenty of younger men; regulars single out Sunday afternoons. Registered customers get offers such as a R$25 first entry, so bring photo ID (a passport) and register at the desk. Recent reviews praise the staff and bar but grumble about maintenance and hot water. Check domo520.com for the week's parties.

The others, briefly

• Opinião, R. Amintas de Barros 749, Alto da XV: a men-only, discreet bar-sauna in an old building with a dark room, cabins and cheap rooms. Garotos de programa (male escorts) work here alongside clients. Reviews range from friendly to tired. Hours on linktr.ee/opiniaoclub.
• Club 773, R. Ubaldino do Amaral 1664, Jardim Botânico: a bar-sauna with dry and wet saunas, a garden and upstairs rooms, with security at the door; some garotos work here. See club773.com.br.
• Très Chic (R. Eng. Rebouças 2645) and Caracala (R. Alferes Poli 1039), both in Rebouças: traditional men's saunas with cabins, an older crowd and quieter afternoons, at around R$45 and R$33.
• Thermas CWB, R. Saldanha Marinho 214, Centro: a small, old-fashioned sauna and bar, popular with men over 50, listed Tuesday to Saturday 14:00–20:00.

Glory holes and cabins in Centro

Curitiba's other cruising tradition is the small cine privê or glory-hole venue: a door on a city-centre street, cabins with holes in the partitions, porn on screens and a dark corridor. They are cheap and basic, seem to change names and addresses often, and promote themselves through WhatsApp and Telegram groups rather than websites.

The one we could confirm as active in 2026. Its link page, set up in February 2026, describes interactive cabins and lists opening hours of Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00–00:00, with WhatsApp and Telegram groups for news. Be aware it is mixed: it addresses couples, singles, trans people, bisexual and gay men alike, so it isn't a men-only space. No prices are published; message them on WhatsApp before you go. We couldn't confirm whether it is connected to the similarly named GHC listed below.

Centro after dark: the pedestrian Rua XV de Novembro, Praça Tiradentes and the streets around Treze de Maio and Riachuelo are lively by day, but empty fast once the shops shut, and on a cold night they can feel deserted. Go to Centro venues in the afternoon if you can. After dark, arrive and leave by Uber or 99, door to door: order the car from inside and step out when it's at the door. Carry one card and a little cash, not your passport.

Check before you go: these places appear in listings and directories, but we couldn't find a dated 2025–26 source confirming that they are open, where they are now or what they charge.

• GHC Cruising Bar (Glory Hole Dark Room), Centro: a glory-hole and dark-room bar that has promoted itself on social media as "GHC Bar Glory Hole Centro". We couldn't confirm a current address or hours.
• La Feria Cruising Box: we found no independent information on its address, hours or crowd. Ask locally or on the apps.
• 21 Club / 21 Bar Executivo, R. Mateus Leme 900, 2nd floor, Centro Cívico: directories list it as a glory-hole cine privê, without hours or dated reviews.
• Cine Lido, R. Riachuelo 163, Centro: an old adult cinema with a café-bar, still listed in directories but with no recent hours, prices or dated reviews. Its crowd may be mixed.

Outdoor cruising: the law and the risks

We don't list parks, squares or public toilets in Curitiba. Sex between men is legal, but sex anywhere the public can see or enter is ato obsceno under Article 233 of the Brazilian Penal Code: three months to a year in detention, or a fine. At night, in the cold and the dark, the bigger risk is robbery, not romance. With a busy sauna and several indoor options in town, there's always a door that locks and a locker for your phone nearby.

Practical tips

• Getting around: the BRT buses and tube stations are fine by day. At night, use Uber or 99 door to door, especially to and from Centro, Rebouças and Alto da XV.
• Entry and ID: there are no membership cards, but saunas usually ask for photo ID at the door; registering at Domo 520 unlocks its offers. There's no dress code: you change into a towel at the saunas, and the cabin venues are come-as-you-are.
• Paying: cards are widely accepted. Pix, Brazil's instant payment, is everywhere but needs a Brazilian bank account and CPF, so carry a card and some small notes.
• Lockers and phone: lock your phone and wallet in the locker, never in the cabin. Bring your own condoms and lube to the smaller venues.
• Consent: dark rooms and cabins run on body language. A hand gently pushed away means no, and you can always say no, move on or leave. A polite "não, obrigado" settles any approach from a garoto.
• Apps: in the South of Brazil Hornet is often busier than Grindr, so install both. Be careful with first meetings: in 2021, Curitiba police arrested a man who met victims through dating apps, robbed them and killed three men in three weeks, and after the deaths of two young gay men, a local association publicly warned about dating apps. Meet in a bar or venue first, tell a friend where you're going, don't go to an address you can't check, and never send a Pix to someone you've only chatted to.
• Health: HIV testing, PrEP and PEP are free through the SUS. PEP must start within 72 hours. In 2024 the city named UPA Cajuru (R. Eng. Benedito Mario da Silva 555) and UPA Boqueirão (R. Profa. Maria de Assumpção 2590), both open 24 hours, and the COA counselling centre at R. do Rosário 144, 6th floor, Centro, on weekdays, as places to get it. Cold-weather cruising

Pack for it. From May to August, Curitiba nights are cold and damp, and locals say the city fits four seasons into a day: sun at lunch, drizzle at four, fog by nightfall. That's why the saunas fill up on grey winter afternoons. Afterwards, do as the curitibanos do: a paper cone of hot roasted pinhão, the seeds of the Paraná pine, and a cup of quentão, which in the South is mulled red wine rather than the cachaça version of the Northeast. And don't take the local reserve personally: once you're sharing a bench in the steam room, curitibanos warm up fast.

The Parada da Diversidade is held in the second half of the year. The 25th edition took place on Sunday 27 September 2026, gathering from noon at Praça Santos Andrade in the centre under the slogan "Das ruas às urnas: LGBTQIAPN+ pela democracia" ("From the streets to the ballot box").
