Gay Saunas in Florianópolis: The Honest 2026 Guide
Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and local and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change
Floripa is a city split by water. The old centre sits on the island, the Ilha de Santa Catarina, facing the mainland across a narrow strait, and at dusk the white Hercílio Luz bridge lights up over the bay while the vento sul, the cool southern wind, ruffles the water. Locals eat oysters with lemon by the sea in Santo Antônio de Lisboa or Ribeirão da Ilha, then spend the summer on the east-coast beaches. Most visitors come for those beaches, but the sauna scene is in town: two men's saunas in Centro on the island, a few streets from each other, and two smaller ones on the mainland side. It's a small scene, nothing like São Paulo or Rio, so knowing which is which saves a wasted taxi ride. Here's the honest rundown.
Legal in one line: Brazil has had marriage equality since 2013, and since 2019 homophobia has been punishable as a form of racism. Floripa has long been a popular gay beach destination, but public nudity is another matter: the city treats nudism at Praia da Galheta as not permitted (see below).
Centro (island): the two main saunas
Both of the city's best-known saunas are in Centro, on the island, close to the bars around the old town. You can walk between them in a few minutes, but at night take Uber or 99 door to door.
For Homme Sauna Club · R. Gen. Bittencourt 317, Centro
The newer, more polished option, described by misterb&b as the busiest and best-designed men's sauna in town. Its own website lists hot and cold saunas (dry and steam), a bar, a dark room, cabins, glory holes, private rooms and individual lockers, and the space is air-conditioned. It's 18+, and it runs weekend parties and shows, so check the programme before you go: special events can have different prices.
Prices (from the official site): R$65 standard entry, R$50 if you're on the daily loyalty list (lista do dia; the site says sign-up usually closes at 16:00), and R$25 in your birthday month, or free entry with a sauna kit on the birthday itself if you show photo ID; a sauna kit is R$15 and an extra towel R$4. Valid photo ID is compulsory. The website says it opens Tuesday to Sunday; directory hours differ, so check forhomme.com.br or WhatsApp (48) 99629-0277 for the day's times.
Thermas 2500 · R. Luiz Delfino 231, Centro
The old-timer, also listed as Thermas Oceano. misterb&b calls it the longest-standing gay sauna in Florianópolis and says it was renovated under new management. Listed facilities include dry and steam saunas, a hydromassage pool, a dark room, a maze, glory holes, a sling, private cabins and a bar, with theme nights. Travel Gay describes it as small but effective, with private rooms at no extra charge.
Good to know: its Google listing gives 15:00–22:00 most days and until midnight on Fridays; Travel Gay lists daily 15:00–22:00. Reviewers summarised on Wanderlog praise the service, while some mention cleanliness and missing basics. We couldn't find a published price, so ask at the door or call (48) 3222-4547; the Instagram account is @thermas_2500floripa.
Same sauna, different names: "Thermas Oceano" (with an old thermasoceanoflorianopolis.blogspot.com address) and "Sauna Thermas 2500" are the same venue at Rua Luiz Delfino 231. Don't go looking for two. We found no confirmed sauna closures in Florianópolis for 2025–2026.
The mainland (continente)
Across the bridges, the mainland side of the city and the neighbouring municipality of São José are mostly residential, and few tourists cross over. Both saunas here draw a local crowd.
Duo Sauna Bar · R. José João de Souza 589, Roçado, São José
Technically not in Florianópolis at all but in São José, part of Greater Florianópolis. The official website describes about 400 m² over two floors; misterb&b lists a steam sauna with a cold shower, a bar, a dark room, a labyrinth, glory holes, private cabins, a cinema lounge and voyeur and BDSM areas. As anywhere, you can always say no, or simply move on. The website gives Tuesday to Sunday, 14:00–22:00; GayOut's listing says it closes on Tuesdays instead, so confirm by WhatsApp (48) 99816-6771 before the trip. GayOut lists entry at R$60 on weekdays and R$50 at weekends, which we couldn't confirm.
Adelino Sauna · Av. Ver. Nagib Jabor 356, Capoeiras
A low-key men's sauna in Capoeiras, just over the bridges on the mainland. misterb&b describes dry and steam saunas, shower cubicles, massage and a bar with a TV, a crowd centred on men in their forties and their admirers, and little privacy, which regulars treat as part of the fun. GayOut lists Monday–Friday 14:30–21:00, Saturday 15:00–21:00, closed Sunday, and R$70 entry. We couldn't find recent (2025–2026) confirmation of its hours or prices, so call (48) 3248-1468 before you go.
Island vs mainland: getting around
- Know which side you're going to. Centro (For Homme, Thermas 2500) is on the island. Capoeiras (Adelino) is on the mainland, just across the strait, and Roçado in São José (Duo) is further inland. The beaches and Lagoa da Conceição are on the island too, so from a beach base the mainland saunas are a long ride.
- Uber and 99 both work across Greater Florianópolis and are the easiest way to cross the bridges, especially after dark and from the mainland venues. In high summer (December to February) the bridges and the roads to the beaches clog up, so allow extra time and order your Uber or 99 well before you need to be somewhere.
- Buses: city buses run through integration terminals, with the main one, TICEN, in Centro, and buses to São José are run by separate intermunicipal companies. Fine by day if you have time; at night, take a car.
- Paying: carry a card and some cash. Pix, Brazil's instant payment, is everywhere but needs a Brazilian bank account and CPF number.
- Lockers and ID: lock your phone and wallet in the locker, and bring a passport or photo ID: For Homme requires it, and Brazilian saunas usually ask for it.
- Apps: in southern Brazil, Hornet is popular alongside Grindr. Meet in public first, and never send a Pix to someone you've only met online.
- Before and after: Centro's bars, including the men-only 153 Club (listed by misterb&b as a club with a cabin maze upstairs), are close to both Centro saunas. See GayOut's Florianópolis gay bars.
- manezinho: a native of Florianópolis, with a famous sing-song accent
- Ilha da Magia: "Island of Magic", the city's nickname
- vento sul: the cold southern wind that clears the beaches and fills the saunas
- continente: the mainland side of the city; a Ilha is the island
- toalha (towel), armário (locker), chinelo (flip-flop), cabine (private cabin)
- lista: the guest or loyalty list that gets you a cheaper entry
- não, obrigado: no, thank you
The beaches: Praia Mole and Galheta
Praia Mole, on the island's east coast, is the gay-popular surf beach in summer, home to the LGBTQ+ Bar do Deca. Praia da Galheta, next door, is a wild, undeveloped beach reached only on foot, along trails from Praia Mole or Barra da Lagoa, and is popular with gay men for sunbathing.
Galheta is not currently an official naturist beach. Naturism was authorised there in 1997, but the city council's legislative department says the 2016 law that turned the area into the Monumento Natural Municipal da Galheta revoked it, and the park now states that nudism is not permitted. The naturist association disputes this, and a bill to allow naturism on the shoreline (not on the trails) was approved by a council committee in November 2025, but it still needs further votes. The Military Police patrol the area in summer, including with drones, and a complaint about nudity can lead to a police report. Keep your swimwear on, stay on the beach, and keep the sauna for the sauna.
Pride, health and local flavour
Pride: the Parada do Orgulho LGBTI+ moves around the calendar. The 16th edition was on 10 September 2023, starting from the bridgehead on Avenida Beira-Mar Continental, promoted by the city with the NGO Acontece Arte e Política; the 2021 edition, on 7 November, was online. GayOut's calendar currently lists the 2026 parade for Sunday 15 November on Avenida Beira-Mar Norte. We couldn't confirm that with the organisers, so check before you book.
Health: Brazil's public health system, the SUS, offers free HIV testing, PrEP and PEP. If a condom breaks, PEP must start within 72 hours: go to a public UPA emergency unit or a hospital emergency room and ask for PEP.
A few words to know:
After the steam, do as the locals do and order a plate of ostras (oysters): Florianópolis farms most of Brazil's oysters in the bays between the island and the mainland, and Ribeirão da Ilha and Santo Antônio de Lisboa serve them fresh, raw or gratinated.

Frequently asked questions
What gay saunas are there in Florianópolis?
Four are listed for Greater Florianópolis. Two are in Centro on the island: For Homme, a modern sauna club at Rua General Bittencourt 317, and Thermas 2500 (also known as Thermas Oceano), the long-running men's bathhouse at Rua Luiz Delfino 231. Two are on the mainland: Adelino Sauna in Capoeiras and Duo Sauna Bar in Roçado, São José.
How much does a gay sauna cost in Florianópolis?
For Homme's website lists R$65 standard entry, R$50 if you are on the daily loyalty list and R$25 in your birthday month, with a sauna kit at R$15. GayOut's listings give R$50 to R$60 at Duo Sauna Bar and R$70 at Adelino, but we could not confirm those, so ask at the door. Bring photo ID.
Which Florianópolis saunas are on the island and which on the mainland?
For Homme and Thermas 2500 are in Centro, on the island, a few minutes apart. Adelino is in Capoeiras on the mainland, just across the bridges, and Duo Sauna Bar is in Roçado, São José, a separate municipality further inland. After dark, use Uber or 99 door to door, especially for the mainland venues.
Is Praia da Galheta a nudist beach?
Not officially, at the moment. Naturism was authorised in 1997, but the city council says a 2016 law creating the Galheta Natural Monument revoked it. A bill to allow naturism on the shoreline again cleared a council committee in November 2025 but still needs a plenary vote. Keep your swimwear on unless that changes.
When is Florianópolis Pride?
The Parada do Orgulho LGBTI+ moves around the calendar: it was held on 10 September in 2023 and on 7 November in 2021. GayOut's calendar lists the 2026 parade for Sunday 15 November on Avenida Beira-Mar Norte, which we could not confirm with the organisers, so check before you book.
