Indianapolis has a functioning gay bar scene spread across downtown and surrounding neighbourhoods. The city is not Nashville or Chicago, but for the Midwest it has solid options — from long-running dance clubs to neighbourhood bars.
Dance Clubs
- Gregs Indy — downtown; spacious dance floor, multiple bars, drag shows, themed nights including karaoke and Latin events. One of the main dance options in the city.
- Talbott Street — operating for 30+ years; large dance floor, multiple bars, stage for live performances, drag shows and themed parties. An Indianapolis institution.
- Metro Nightclub and Restaurant (Mass Ave Arts District) — elegant dining area and separate dance floor; drag shows and live music. Good option for dinner and a night out.
- English Ivy's (Broad Ripple) — indoor space and outdoor patio; drag shows and live entertainment in the bohemian Broad Ripple neighbourhood.
- Zonie's Closet (Fountain Square) — cozy and relaxed; karaoke, trivia, and themed parties. The neighbourhood bar option.
- Olly's (Fountain Square) — historic Fountain Square location with craft beers and outdoor patio.
- The Ten — downtown; craft cocktails, American comfort food, drag brunches.
- 501 Eagle — leather/Levi bar with dark atmospheric interior, pool tables, and regular events.

Broad Ripple
The Broad Ripple neighbourhood north of downtown is a bohemian area with a concentration of bars, restaurants, and venues that are gay-friendly — English Ivy's and The Unicorn Club (karaoke, drag shows, outdoor patio) are both here. Different character from downtown — more neighbourhood pub than city club.
Indianapolis Pride
Indiana Black Pride and Indianapolis Pride are in June — the main Pride march and festival draw tens of thousands. The city also hosts GenCon (August), the world's largest gaming convention, which has an increasingly visible LGBTQ+ presence.
