The honest summary: Nuremberg has about seven gay bars. All of them are small, they're mostly local, and none is a club. Two are brand new in 2026 (DATE 6 and DATE 31). Dancing happens at roving queer parties in mainstream clubs, so plan a bar crawl and check the party calendar. Hours below are from GAYCON, the local gay magazine, and the bars' own pages in October 2026.

Old town (St. Lorenz)

    • Bar59 at Johannesgasse 59 calls itself a queer scene bar, and Travel Gay lists it as gay-owned. It's in the space that used to be the Smiley Bar. Thursday is After Work from 19:00, and there's karaoke on the second Saturday of the month. Fridays and Saturdays often have themed parties until 2am.
    • Pigalle Schlagerbar at Pfeifergasse 2a plays German Schlager and pop all night. Spartacus describes the crowd as mostly gay and lesbian. It's open Wednesday to Friday 19:00–02:00 and Saturday 20:00–03:00, and it's the liveliest room late on a weekend.
    • DATE 6 at Mostgasse 6 opened in May 2026 and calls itself "a new, small gay bar". It's a living-room-style place that opens at 16:00 every day and closes at 22:00 on weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
    • La Bas at Hallplatz 31 is a long-running pub-restaurant with dark wood, Franconian food and a beer garden. Travel Gay and Spartacus list it as a gay and lesbian bar, though the pub doesn't advertise it. It's open until about 5am daily.

    Südstadt and further out

    • Savoy Bar at Bogenstraße 45 opened in 1983 and is the city's oldest gay bar. It's a gay men's local with an older crowd and a weekly "Savoy Montag" from 19:00. It's open Thursday to Monday from 17:00 and closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
    • Einfachso Pilsbar at Wodanstraße 26 in Gleißhammer calls itself "your gay bar in the Südstadt". It moved here from Klaragasse in autumn 2025. It's a beer-and-simple-food Pilsbar that reviewers say is cash only. It's open Monday to Thursday until 2am and Friday and Saturday until 4am, closed Sunday.
    • DATE 31 at Ottostraße 31 near Plärrer is DATE 6's sister bar. This bistro and music bar opened on 29 October 2026 and plans karaoke nights. Check its Instagram for hours while it settles in.

Parties

For dancing, go to the queer party series: Rosa Hirsch at Der Hirsch (every month or two, next on 28 November 2026), Queer Jungle at PARKS, SUPAFLY at Basement 11 (next on 13 November 2026) and the occasional Pink Gate at GATE Club. A fetish pub crawl moves between the bars about every month or two. The events page has current dates.

Gone but still Googled

Cartoon (An der Sparkasse 6) closed in spring 2024. Smiley Bar became Bar59. Bert's Bar is closed. Einfachso is no longer on Klaragasse. Mardi Gras, Sabu, Roxy and Mata Hari are ordinary bars that old lists got wrong; none of them is a gay bar.
