Palm Springs does things differently. Most cities with a big gay scene mean bathhouses: enclosed, indoor affairs. Not here. The desert climate means clothing-optional men's resorts are the main social and sexual venues. Most sell day passes.

Vista Grande Resort

This place gets called the most popular for a reason. Recently renovated, it has three pools, a bathing lagoon, and an 18-person hot tub. There’s a steam room too. Day passes are available. The grounds feel big enough, and the crowd is a real mix of ages and backgrounds. It's about a mile south of downtown, in Warm Sands. Classic Palm Springs retro style.

All Worlds Resort

This is Palm Springs' biggest clothing-optional gay men's resort. The grounds are huge, with a 24-hour heated pool, hot tub, outdoor showers, and indoor/outdoor mazes. You can buy day, night, or weekend passes. Sunday pool parties and weekend BBQs happen regularly; expect serious crowds on Pride weekends. You'll find both party zones and quiet spots here.

South Warm Sands Drive, Palm Springs

CCBC Resort (Cathedral City Boys Club)

Set on 3.5 acres in Cathedral City, CCBC says it's the largest clothing-optional gay men's resort in the US. It has multiple pools, hot tubs, four indoor playrooms (one is military-themed), and its own restaurant and bar, Runway. They host monthly CumUnion parties and fetish weekends. You'll need a car or rideshare to get here from Palm Springs proper.

Cathedral City (adjacent to Palm Springs; driving/rideshare required)

CLUB541

A newer, dedicated sex club in Palm Springs, CLUB541 focuses on evenings and nights. It got popular fast after opening. This is your spot if you want a more urban club experience, away from the resorts.

The Bar Scene — Arenas District

If you're staying nearby, the Arenas Road strip is walkable. You'll find Tool Shed (open since 1993, a leather and Levi's crowd, happy hour daily 10am–8pm), Hunters Palm Springs (go-go boys and drag shows), Streetbar (the city's original gay bar, 35+ years old), and Chill Bar. It's a good area for bar-hopping before or after hitting the resorts.

When to Visit

    • November Palm Springs Pride — California's biggest free Pride festival south of San Francisco; a multi-day event with a parade and stages.
    • Modernism Week (February) — architecture is the focus, but a lot of gay people come.
    • Winter/Spring (November–April) — temperatures are ideal (70s–80s°F). Summer gets to 110°F+, which is fine by the pool but brutal anywhere else.
