Palm Springs gay resort hotels are different from mainstream chains. You need to understand that before you book.

Most gay resorts in Palm Springs are small, 10 to 40 rooms at most, built around a central pool and sun deck. The pool area is the social heart of the property. If that level of gay community isn't for you, there are also larger mainstream hotels in Palm Springs. They're gay-friendly without being gay-specific. The Warm Sands Neighborhood

Warm Sands is the residential neighborhood southeast of downtown, roughly bounded by Warm Sands Drive and surrounding streets. Most of the gay resort hotels cluster here. Stay here and you're a 15-20 minute walk from the downtown bars, or a 5-minute rideshare. The neighborhood itself is quiet: residential streets, desert landscaping, small to medium-sized resort properties behind walls and gates.

Warm Sands properties vary. Some are more social and party-oriented; others are quieter and more couples-focused. Reading up on a resort's specific character before booking matters more here than at a mainstream hotel, where the property type is more standardized.

You're walking distance from the bars and can rideshare to Warm Sands. Several design-forward boutique hotels operate in this zone.
