Had a great work lunch with my Amazing Team. Good service and food.
Was charged a $350 fee for smoking in the room, even though I don’t smoke. They said the smoke detectors are sensitive, and a candle or incense could have set it off. I didn’t do either of those things either. And even though they acknowledged the faulty sensitive detectors, they still did not refund me the fee. I reached out by email and phone many times, until they ultimately stopped responding. Even stopped answering the phone. So I had to take it up with my credit card company. Tons of things wrong with this place, but I’ll just leave it at this. Expect your stay to be double the price you expect. And scrutinize your folio thoroughly upon checkout. So many fees. Even ones unwarranted. T
I have to say, we were quite disappointed with our stay this last weekend. We did not know that guests with children would be relegated to the small pool when we made our reservation. This was a major disappointment and we would not have booked had we known that at the time. We spent the day in the small pool with our family and the others we came with, however there was a serious lack of food/drink service, there was only music for part of the time (although the DJ who was there was great), and there were no towels for most of the day there despite repeated calls to the desk to request them. The small pool was so neglected that even the DJ who was there was waiting for over an hour for the staff to bring her an umbrella to shade her and her equipment. Her equipment ended up overheating disrupting the music. We helped her move one of the guest umbrellas over to her setup so she could begin to try to cool it all down. Not only was this bad for the guests but it is a terrible way to treat the staff. The pricing of food and drink has gotten out of control. Sodas at the pool were $8 which is insane. The food from the hotel restaurant, Kings Highway diner, was mediocre at best and incredibly expensive. It cost my family of 4 $200 for a simple meal, and two of us got the soup. The room we had also needed some things fixed. The curtain that's supposed to close off the two single beds against the wall was missing a panel so only 1/2 of the beds could be covered. I'm part of a group of friends who have come here every year to celebrate a birthday. After the pool issue and crazy food/drink pricing we will likely not come back next year in favor of another location with pricing that is more commensurate with the level of service. I sincerely hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests as our weekend was not what we hoped it would be.
Our room was very dirty and smelled like a dive bar when we arrived. The floor had not been vacuumed, there was urine on the toilet seat. When we returned from the pool, there was no hot water and the TV didn’t work. The pool itself was very run down and didn’t seem clean when we swam the next morning… a shiny film on the top and a broken flip flop floating by. For the price we paid, really expected more. The staff were very nice though.
We have stayed at the Ace before, and really enjoyed it, but this visit was disappointing. The rooms were not clean. There were multiple cockroaches in the room throughout our stay. The speakers at the pool didn’t work, and the food is now exorbitantly priced. Our bill for 1 order of pancakes, 2 pastries and a side of eggs was over $80. I overheard that the Property is now under new ownership, and unfortunately the experience was not the standard we have come to expect at the ACE Palm Springs.
★☆☆☆☆ I would give zero stars if I could. My stay at ACE Hotel Palm Springs ended with a fraudulent charge on my bill — a smoking fee assessed at 10am on my check-in day, when the standard check-in time is 4pm and I didn't even physically arrive until 8pm. It's clear this fee belonged to a prior guest, and instead of catching their own error, the hotel passed it onto me. What made it worse was the complete lack of accountability. I attempted to resolve the issue directly with the front desk multiple times and was repeatedly ignored — calls went unanswered and my inquiries were never addressed. I had no choice but to dispute the charge through my credit card company, who investigated and sided in my favor based on the timeline alone. The ethics of this staff are seriously questionable. Whether this was negligence or deliberate, the outcome was the same: I was billed for something I had no part in, and no one at this property made any effort to make it right. If you're visiting Palm Springs, I strongly recommend choosing another property. And if you do stay here — check your invoice carefully before you leave. Don't make the mistake of trusting that your bill is accurate.
My wife and I have been coming for about 12 years- maybe even more. This visit, I feel, was our last. With new ownership, I feel nickel-and-dimed. It started by marking a lot of the pool chairs as "reserved". Now parking is 10 dollars a night when it used to be free, but parking is still hard to get- so what am I paying for? Two drinks this time cost close to 70 dollars once we added tax and tip. We used to buy food and drinks by the pool, but those days are gone, too expensive. We used to like the Amigo Room- but the remodel killed the vibe. Now it looks like a hotel lobby instead of a bar. Regarding music, I enjoy house music, but the music at the pool is way too loud now. The female DJ was horrible- she only played music with one beat easy for her to match, but worst of all, she kept taking selfies and videotaping herself every other minute- literally. Get over yourself. There were no pool towels for 3-4 hours, and they cut the number of staff who take drink and food orders. It's evident that the new owners don't understand what made the ACE great.
