Overview
Join YAI and RIA’s Evidence for policy masterclass. Learn how research can shape policy and connect with experts. Register now!

Academic research can play an important role in supplying timely, transparent, and rigorously collected evidence needed to inform effective public policy. The Evidence for Policy Masterclass, jointly hosted by the Young Academy Ireland (YAI) and Royal Irish Academy (RIA), will enhance the capacity of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to understand and influence policymaking on key societal issues on the island of Ireland. This event combines the strengths of YAI, as a network of ECR expertise dedicated to supplying evidence for policy, and of the RIA as an all-island learned society that recognises academic achievement and expertise to enhance public good. As such, the Masterclass will be interdisciplinary and all-island in content and participation. While aimed primarily at ECRs, the event will also be of interest to funders, academics, policymakers, and MRIA.
The Masterclass will feature:
Keynote address by Sir David Sterling MRIA and former Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service
Policy Cycle Workshop with Marie Cowan MRIA and Director of the Geological Society of Northern Ireland, and Mary Doyle MRIA and the Academy's Secretary for Policy and International Relations
Contributions from Young Academy Ireland members.
