Overview
LGBTQ+ Art & Wellness: Creative Emotional Support Workshop

Join us for a creative workshop series designed for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to explore emotional regulation, self-awareness, connection, and self-care through art and creative practice.
Throughout the series, we'll explore a variety of topics that can impact our emotional well-being—including self-love, identity, loneliness, stigma, relationships, allyship, and building supportive communities. Through hands-on art activities, guided discussions, creative reflection, and opportunities to connect with others, participants will have space to better understand their emotions while developing creative tools for navigating them.

November's Theme: Gratitude, Self-Care, & Connection through a LGBTQ+ experience-informed lens.

Tuesday, November 3- Sources of Comfort: “Small Comforts & Moments”
Description: Start the series with comfort. Ordinary things that help participants feel a little more like themselves. Comfort is personal, without bias or ranking. Activity is “My Comfort Collage”: participants are invited to reflect on their sense of comfort (symbols, places, people, abstract ideas) and to place them on a sheet of paper using drawing, coloring, images from magazines.

Tuesday, November 10- Personal Strengths: “Rooted: Celebrating Our Strengths”

Inward appreciation (personal strengths, growth, and self-care) and appreciation for accomplishments and daily efforts we make. Strength is what we define it to mean. Activity is “My Plant of Strength”: participants are invited to visually represent their personal values or supports, their strengths (current or building towards), and a message of appreciation to themselves. Participants can also visually represent self-care and they define what self-care is to them.

Tuesday, November 17- Connections & Messages of Care: “Chosen Connections”

Outward appreciation (people, places, things, abstract ideas) can be delivered through a letter or illustration. Many forms of connection and appreciation exist. Invite participants to reflect on what they believe deserves appreciation or what they would like to be a part of. Activity is “Chosen Connections: The Art of Appreciation”: participants are invited to create a letter, appreciation card, illustration, or postcard about or to something they feel appreciation towards.

Tuesday, November 24- Reflections: “Reflective Windows: Gratitude, Boundaries, & Belonging”
Description: Reflecting on areas of your life that you hold gratitude for, you place boundaries for, and where you feel belonging. To conclude the month, participants are invited to reflect on the month they have had. Activity is “Reflective Windows: Gratitude, Boundaries, and Belonging”: participants are invited to visually represent or write about their reflections based on 6 guided prompts. Participants are invited to visualize looking through windows into different areas of their mind/life and represent how they visualize or think about those areas, based on prompts.
