Last verified: November 2026. Duisburg has one dedicated gay pub, and it's in the Dellviertel: Harlekin on Realschulstraße. Next door, Pampus is a long-running mixed pub on the local scene list, and up in Hamborn the Senftöpfchen karaoke pub has a largely gay crowd. There is no gay club and no gay sauna in the city. Here's what's open, what has gone, and where people go instead.

The Dellviertel pubs

Harlekin "ob so oder so", Realschulstraße 16

The gay-web.info Duisburg guide lists Harlekin as a scene pub for gay people and friends, and the Ruhr magazine strobo called it the city's last gay bar back in 2021. The current owners took over around 2015; the bar goes back to the 1980s. It's one room of about 130 square metres with rainbow flags and regulars at the bar.

• Karaoke: on Friday nights. The bar's own Google profile stresses that it isn't a karaoke bar the rest of the week.
• Shows: occasional drag, and on 4 December 2026 the karaoke night doubles as a World AIDS Day stand with AIDS-Hilfe Duisburg/Kreis Wesel.
• Hours: posted in the bar's Facebook group rather than on a website. It tends to stay open as long as there are guests.

Google reviewers give it 4.4 from about 155 reviews; most mention the karaoke and the friendly regulars.



Pampus, Realschulstraße 18

Pampus is an old neighbourhood Kneipe around the corner from Harlekin. gay-web.info lists it in its scene guide as a mixed pub that lesbians also go to; it gives the address as Krummacher Straße 43, the same corner block that Google lists as Realschulstraße 18. Expect a quiet beer and conversation rather than a party. Opening times aren't published, so call 0203 21496.

Senftöpfchen, Röttgersbachstraße 89

A karaoke pub with a small stage in Röttgersbach, about 9 km north of the centre. Planet Randy lists it as a gay bar, and a June 2026 write-up on gay-reiseblog.de describes a mixed crowd that mostly comes from the gay scene. It isn't in the gay-web.info guide. A local listing gives Tuesday to Saturday 17:00 to 23:00 and Sunday 17:00 to 21:00.

Gay cinema

Gayworld, Krummacherstraße 44, is two minutes from Harlekin: a gay sex shop with a porn cinema, darkroom and cabins, men only. gay-web.info lists Sunday to Thursday 10:00 to 24:00 and Friday and Saturday 10:00 to 02:00. Erlebniskino on Beekstraße is a mixed adult cinema that gay guides also list for cruising.



Meetups instead of a club

A lot of Duisburg's queer social life happens at regular meetups in ordinary cafés and community rooms. The dates below come from the gay-web.info calendar:

• Pink Power Stammtisch: every Friday from 18:30 at Pink Power e.V., Musfeldstraße 161, Hochfeld.
• Queer Meetup Duisburg: second Tuesday of the month, 18:00 to 20:00, at Café Edel on Mülheimer Straße.
• Pink Wednesday After Work: third Wednesday of the month, 18:00 to 22:00, at Marianne's Bistro, Salvatorweg 8.
• QueerFilmNacht: a monthly queer film night at the filmforum, Dellplatz 16.

• Gay Club Bermuda (Emmericher Straße 85, Meiderich) is still on some directory sites, but we found no website, social media, party dates or press, and the curated local guide doesn't list it.
• Grammatikoff on Dellplatz has closed. BORA now runs there, and its programme has no regular queer nights.
• BonneBella on Averdunkplatz is listed as closed.
• "Queens Bar" and "Hafenbar Duisburg" appear in some AI-written guides as gay bars. They aren't.
• Rainbow on Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz is a mixed bar, and we couldn't confirm that S-Bar still exists.

For a bigger night out

There's no gay club in Duisburg. Düsseldorf and Essen are both about a quarter of an hour away by regional train, and Cologne is 40 to 50 minutes. The nearest gay saunas are Ruhrwellness in Mülheim an der Ruhr and Pluto Sauna in Essen.

• The Dellviertel is about ten minutes on foot from Duisburg Hauptbahnhof.
• These are small owner-run pubs: hours change, and cash is still preferred in places.
